Hey all,
sorry if this has been brought up before, but I don't want to sell my L$, but I also don't want to have to pay for my land fees when I have stacks of L$ in the bank.
If I could pay my SL bill with L$ then I'd never have to convert them in to US$
For, me its a great game, I'm not here to make a living, I'm here to have fun building selling and generally meeting cool new people. I'd be happy to pay a small amount each month, say 10$ to be able to pay for my subscriptions/land fee/tiers etc in L$
One day I'd like to buy an island, but to do that I'd have to sell over 500,000 L$ and keep converting enough each month to pay for the 195US$ tier fees.
If I could pay my bills in L$ I wouldn't need to flood the market every month to cover the monthly fees.
Wouldn't think help the market ?
(please feel free to flame me if I'm just talking a load of ****)
Cheers

how is LL supose to pay for servers and stuff in the real world with lindens? Linden X allows you to sell your lindens to other players and then use that money for tier, its 10x easier than it use to be, you had to sell on a third party site, and put it in a paypal or your bank account to pay tier.

For Linden Lab to turn those Lindens into USD (you know, to pay employees and colocation), they would have to sell them on Lindex, and there's no net benefit, in fact a small net loss for Linden Lab since they don't get the transaction fees they would have gotten from you selling them yourself.

I wasn't sure if USD in your Lindex account would be put against tier fees, rather than charging the credit card. I'd love it if this were true. If so, how does one set it up... or is it automatic? PayPal does not work in my country, so this would be a perfect use of my L$, rather than having to get a cheque cut every once in a while. So... final ruling, someone?

Yeah LL actually takes any positive balance in your LindenX account and uses it automatically for tier whether you like it or not, and if you are short they then charge your credit card/paypal whatever. i find it really handy myself, some people who like to sit on money though dont seem to haha.

Just make sure you set your currency exchange settings to advanced, so that you don't sell too cheap to the traders. IMO its better to sell it to what "normal" users are buying it for. It will sell pretty quick anyway. You need advanced settings to set your own price. https://secondlife.com/account/currency_settings.php

It would be interesting if a there were a transfer of L$ from the player to LL... which LL would then sell on the Lindex directly and apply towards tier fees.
For example:
$75 in tier is due. LL deducts 75*(current market sale rate) lindens from Player's L$'s LL poss those L$ for sale, applies the proceeds towards tier fees. (and deducts another 3.5% of the L$ sold from the players account and destroys them as a fee for the service).
Sure there's some wiggle room, the actual amount sold may be more or less than the amount needed to cover tier, just credit or carry the balance over and roll it up in the next months transaction.

From: Yumi Murakami But if you were prepared to accept a bad rate, then it could be done. Bad rate... selling to traders... etc. Come on. Why don't you tell them that there's no guarantee their order will ever execute with a limit order? There are pros and cons to market orders and limit orders. One is not inherently better than the other. There's no need to tell one side of the story, if you are afraid people won't know the implications, then tell them how the market works, not what they should or shouldn't do.
