Maybe its just me but I really couldnt give two flying fu*ks what the exchange rate is for Lindens.

I'm not interested in making money in SL.

The american dollor is almost $2 to the pound meaning it hardly costs me anything to play SL - Im paying $8 a month tier and $7.50(ish) a month for my membership = $15 thats about £8 a month or £2 a week or 29p a day. I put more than this in the charity box at lunchtime from my change from my sandwich.

The majority of us are here to chill to have fun.

Why on earth would you want to spend your spare time doing more work ?

Just chill out.

Preferably at the Cactuswrap :P

Well said, CJ! I never ceased to be amazed at the number of people who go on about their 'jarbs' in SL , their 'business plans' and such like.... you think one job in RL would be enough. But no... SL seems to attract numbskulls in their droves who can think of nothing else other than jobs and money in virtual reality. Oh well, c'est la vie.

I run a business because I enjoy doing so, and I enjoy seeing content I create be considered worthwhile enough by other people to give me somehting of value for it. I don't do this for money; the money is just how I keep score. *laughs*

Overall the SL economy feels healthy to me, even if I think the Linden is going to keep going down.

Me too, but I still make Fate Gardens pay it's tier or lose the land.

Since I only buy Linden, I tend to have a slightly different opinion of falling L$... then again, I'm not the one to talk to about the economy since I sort of fell asleep once or twice back in High School Economics.

I won't cross post, exactly, but did note in another forum that expensive lindens result in fewer shoppers at FG. Inexpensive lindens result in more shoppers and more sales per. Over the past fourteen months I've made more US money when the linden value was depressed.

To answer the original question, I sell on accumulation, not based on target price; so my answer is "none." That seems to work best to keep US in the account to pay the tier every month.

I never cease to be amazed at how harshly we judge people who are different than ourselves. I am certain that it would be quite difficult for others to be as perfect as I naturally am. ;)

Not happy about Linden Labs purchase of XStreet (formerly SLX) and OnRez. Will this mean LL will ban resident run online shoping outlets in favor of their own?

Interesting! Money is only how I keep score, too! That's a perfect way of putting it!

As to Jauani's question, I have some Lindens I could cash out, but I figure now's not the time to do it.

I have to agree. I enjoy making the content I provide and appreciate it when another person feels that I have made something that they would be willing to buy. Not to mention, it pays for my SL addiction... my only vice... well, unless Mt. Dew counts... but probably not, I am sure everyone has a Mt. Dew drip connected to them.

at point would you consider accumulating L$ on a long play? why?

i'm thinking that one the L$ is around 400 it will stabilize and even go back up. i'm going to take philip on his word that the defecit we observe in the taps and sinks of the economy actually balances out when we account for the explosive growth in the population. so i base my value based on the necessary price incentive required to buy L$ off the Lindex rather then farming it with annual premium accounts.

It'd have to be around 400 before I'd consider accumulating L$ on a 'long play', for the same reason you state, the price LL offers on the premium stipend. As long as they are offering the best price, I think it likely the L$ will gravitate towards that value, until eventually residents are offering the best price. So, if I was taking a long term position, I wouldn't be gambling on the L$ being worth more than L$351/US$. Throw in the 3.5% Lindex selling fee, and you're getting close to that 400. That's an off-the-top-of-my-head answer.

Otherwise, I'd sell along the way, trying to catch the best price at the time, and hold it US$, buying extra L$ if needed at the current market price.

Actually theres some like me who have handicaps that prevent us from being able to focus on a RL job. a Sl job would be a dream for me. But all i see is freelance stuff...

L$500 / 1 USD... and thats only if the Lindens get their L$ money press deficit under control. Honestly, the way they pump money into this economy makes the budget deficit proposals of George W. Bush look like the Easter bunny.
