I just checked out LindeX for the first time today. Every single L$ seller on the market uses the method of COST PER L$1,000 as their going rate. LL decides to totally reverse this and use L$ PER US$1. Do they do these things just to confuse the @$@# out of people? If so, IT WORKS! Hey, folks, LindeX seems to work fairly well.. but how about changing it to the normal method of marketing these things. When I look at LindeX, I want to see HOW MUCH WILL IT COST ME PER THOUSAND... not how many L$ I can get for a buck. I mean, who ever bought $1 worth of L$? This is especially true on the seller side; we want to know what the current US$/1000 conversion rate is. I know that all we have to do is enter 1,000 into the seller box to get this figure, but hey, I can do it in my head ten times faster if we just know the current selling price per 1000. Perhaps others feel the same?

One the one hand, you have a point... for the old hands used to other currency exchanges.
LindeX was, so I gather, aimed towards those new to SL in large part. Which means it makes perfect sense to use a L$ X/ US$ 1 rate, since someone new might be more interested in how much real money they'll have to spend. Lindex also doesn't have manditory L$1k blocks; you can buy a mere L$ 50 if it occurs to you to do so. (While I doubt many will do just that, I have bought an odd number to exactly get a given purchase price... whereas with GOM I had to round up to the nearest thousand. This is why we have computers, folks - to do the math for us.)

Maybe they like it because the graph is upside down. When the value of the $L goes down, the graph goes UP. Heh!
Seriously, it's wrong. And I don't like that they took buy and sell out of the left side menu.

I didn't like it the day it went live. I like Lindex, but the down-is-up up-is-down mentality is friggin' stupid.

I personally prefer it the way Lindex does it. I always think in terms of Linden-to-one-dollar, not the other way around. That's the way I'm used to thinking about foreign currency too: how many pounds sterling, Euros, or Yen does my dollar buy?

Ah, I see this has come up before. Well, I did some further examination on the system. While I've never really seen anyone say, "I want $5 worth of L$... how many will that get me?" (Usually they say, "I need 2000L$... how much will it cost?)... still, the buyer side seems easy to use; you can choose either method. So there's nothing wrong with the purchase/sell process itself (at least, from a "does it work?" standpoint. I can think of better ways to run an exchange, but hey, who needs the stress? LOL). The main problem is that EVERYONE is used to seeing L$ sold at a cost/1000. The complete switcharound causes problems in that it goes against the established, viable norm (kinda like requiring the entry of THREE characters rather than ONE when searching for a MAP/REGION... eh? ;D)... plus, it causes the graphs to be wiggy (as was pointed out, high is low, low is high...). "If common sense were water, we'd be dying of thirst..."

These are all valid points. How about simply listing *both* ways at the top, conversion wise? What US$ equals in L$, and what 1000L$ equalds in US$?
Also, be sure to go into MY ACCOUNT ---> CURRENCY EXCHANGE SETTINGS.
From there you can switch from BASIC to ADVANCED mode which provides a heck of a lot more data.
Regards,
-Flip

-Flip This hits it on the head, pretty much. If you switch to advanced mode, it tells you USD/1000 like you consider normal when selling. It's in shaded text right under the entry box for the conversion rate you want to sell at (defaulting to whatever is the current rate for the day) Unless it does that in basic too, I've never tried it in basic. Before I ever looked at LindeX I saw 'exchange settings' in my account settings, and said 'Advanced sounds way better than basic.'
