Hello, I’m Candido Romano, student of Science of Communication at Suor Orsola Benincasa, Naples , Italy ( www.unisob.na.it) and I’m 23 years old. For first, excuse me for my bad bad English . Actually i write for www.gamerepublic.it , on-line version of the famous videogames (also in Italy) magazine that start in September. I’m writing also a thesis for University on virtual worlds, also on Second Life. I want to make a interview to users of second life by email on society, on real/virtual money, education and virtual formation and so on, for know the structure of this virtual world. If anyone of you are agree, send me an email at candido-romano@hotmail.it, than I respond you with the interview, with ten question. I chose the email because a live interview in Second Life is many difficult to do. The real name (if you are agree) and the name of the avatar that respond at interview will cite on my research, so you rake in popularity. I want to have the answer for the first week of September, because I must finish for 20 September. I search also director of virtual university/teachers for explain their experience or avatar that know the economy and society of Second Life for interview and tips. I ask my excuse to administrator of forum, because I haven’t the time for ask the permission for open this topic. Bye guys, I hope that I receive many email, this research is most important for me… and excuse me again for bad English. See you maybe on Second Life, my name in virtual world is Lem Zenith!

I have no problem with doing a questionnaire for you - and might have different answers to RDB.
Can I point out that LL are pretty tight on this... there are rules to be followed about in world research, you need to catch Robin Linden for permission to do it.

Not quite sure I understand that one Eloise. If your post ID is correct you live in the UK (as I do) so we both have the right to free speech under the Human Rights Act. I believe a similar right exists in the USA. Providing any research does not exploit SL or Linden Labs own intellectual copy write, free speech must surely be the norm in any fair society, virtual or real life. As it happens this is begging to become quite topical, for example the phase "to Google" has entered our language as a verb, the results of which are providing interesting work for Goggle’s lawyers

That said I have no idea the actual rules, but I don't see where it could hurt to contact Robin or some other Linden just in case and go through the proper channels.

Hiya, There is a specific way to contact Linden Lab for permission to do such interviews and research. Unfortunately, I can not find the link or the information. This link http://secondlife.com/knowledgebase/contact.php is to LL Support and should be able to answer your questions. I would also recommend asking Live Help in-world as one of them should know how to contact the proper people. If either of those fail, ask for information in the Answers forum. Due to the backlog there, you might actually find faster help asking in General. (Though you are sure to get a lot more "off topic" comments as well.) Hope this helps. ~Jessy

Actually, this sounds like out-of-world research

Eloise, it sounds like the poster is asking for out-of-world contact, not in-world interviews. While LL has the power (and perhaps the legal right) to control in-world access to residents (like a corporation or school has power to control access in-building to employees or students), it has neither with respect to out-of-world email contacts. ~ Frank ~
