Ok, I thought I would post a poll with a few more choices and a few less.
Actually, I should have only put one choice up there..... Services. Since every job out there is a service to someone or no one would be doing it.

I can't find a place for 'Fluffers' ![]() Hmmm.... fluffers.... Where to put that one? It could go under service industry...... unless you are REALLY good at it... then it could be an artform....... unless you went to the university and obtained a Masters of Fluffing degree..... in which case it would be professional ![]() |

*wonders where the lower-line on "professional" is drawn*
University education required? More advanced than that? _____________________

The American Heritage Dictionary defines a professional as:
noun: 1. A person following a profession, especially a learned profession. 2. One who earns a living in a given or implied occupation: hired a professional to decorate the house. 3. A skilled practitioner; an expert So, in theory, there is no lower end as long as you get paid. Please refer to Siggy's earlier post ref: professional fluffers. Now one who performs a "fluffing" service without monetary compensation would be considered a volunteer. Volunteers (and not JUST volunteer fluffers) are some of society's most valued people!! Others consider a profession to be one that requires a college education to perform (i.e. doctors, liars.....erm...lawyers, etc). So I guess you should just tick off the choice that fills you with the largest amount of warm self worth ![]() |

I'm fascinated that you put "politicians" and "college professors" together.

Good categories, Vince. This looks like an unbiased selection of choices.

One of my professors called some certain justices "fuckers".... Was he being literal? LOL... reminds me of my old history teacher, he used strong language to get the point across, but he sure did succeed in doing that! _____________________

Well when he forgets to bring certain papers to class he calls himself a "god damn idiot" so it's just that he uses language like that as a matter of course
![]() But yeah, a lot is just to get the point across. _____________________

I work for the mob!!! For real, I work for MonsterMob! It's a big mobile ringtone, java game etc. seller here in the uk (www.mob.tv). They have a division in the USA too, something squared I think, they bought them out when they went public.
Anyways I do their mobile phone site work. That and a thousand other odd jobs that fall on my desk. Some days it's really cool, and some days I'm stuck building some really crummy software tools, but you have to take the rough with the smooth. Does nine squared ring bells to anyone? That might be it... |

Unix Admin (3-11 PM shift) Just got back from a week of scuba diving and I'm suffering jetlag from having to get up early in the morning to go out and dive each day. I'm fascinated that you put "politicians" and "college professors" together. It's been my experience that both are pushing some sort of political agenda and have a tendency to manipulate facts to best suit their outlook on things. So I thought they would make quite compatible bedfellows ![]() Good categories, Vince. This looks like an unbiased selection of choices. I'd put them together too : \ In my own possibly atypical experience, I've found university faculty to be startlingly political.... I tried to be as comprehensive as I could while staying within the 10 category limit. I also don't believe your experience to be all that atypical when you consider that mine sounds very similar. I've also noticed similar opinions being voiced by others once they have finished college, but it usually comes about several years later. I think when one is in the 18-24 year old group they are more likely to accept the opinions expressed in lecture without question. It seems to come later that people realize there was an element of ideological indoctrination being crammed down their throats.... |
