Newbie question: how do I find my land footprint?

I purchased/repurchased 3 contiguous first-timer lots of 512m each. For building/housebuying purposes, how do I find out what the footprint of the joined land is? I specifically need to know the width of the land.

Also, on the SLExchange, why do homes only list their total lot size requirements? It seems like it would be pretty important to know both the width and the depth of the item you're purchasing.

Thanks.

If you go to View>Property Lines (cntl-alt-shift-P) you'll get lines around your plot(s). View>Land Owners (no short cut I can see) will colour the ground for you - your plots will show up green. Red is for stuff you don't own or have influence over, turquoise for group land you can affect.

There isn't a direct way of measuring the footprint, but right-clicking the land, choosing edit land and then playing with the select land tools will let you determine the various measurements. 16X32m is the standard for a 512 first land type plot.

Houses often list their footprint in metres too, it depends on the seller I guess. You can always IM them and ask - most content creators in SL are happy to be asked reasonable questions, and asking what the actual size of a house is strikes me as reasonable.
