Furthermore, as Second Life goes to the Metaverse, and this becomes an open platform, Linden Lab risks lawsuit in court and [attachment culling] will, I repeat WILL be reverse in court.

You can sell your Therebucks at http://www.tbux.com for 2200 to the dollar, then buy your L$ on the Lindex.

Many There users are also SL users. Maybe you can sell your there money for SL money to someone who plays both.

I'll gladly exchange your money if you need some L$. I've done a few of these transactions before for basic spending cash in There. (Don't kill me, old beta player here that has a free lifetime account, SL is god :p ) I calculate the exchange rate as follows.

Most people value the T$ slightly lower then There Inc. sells them for, usally T$2000 = $1 USD. Thats what I use.

Rough Example:

L$2000 = $1.00 USD

L$300 = $1.00 USD

So... T$50,000 = $25.00 USD

$25.00 USD = L$7500

Contact me inworld (SL) if you are intrested.

One person being a money changer is nice, but what
the world needs is a trading floor of virtual currencies.
So that currency pair prices are set every minute by
the market.

The technology to create the trading floor isn't the problem,
its the delivery of currencies which is the biggest hurdle.
Somehow a user buying TBUX with L$ through a trading floor
needs a delivery service (electronic or human) to pay their
There.com account. And vice versa... Solve that problem
and you'll be the premier global forex trading site for virtual
currencies.

There were sites that traded T$ and other gaming currency for other gaming currency. Examples would be GOM and IGE. The problem is that even though the customers may want such a service, it may be impossible for a "fully automated" service. GOM and IGE did infact use avatars in other worlds as their "ATM's" which were actively manned. The other issue is the fact that other companies do not support 3rd party sales of their currency. There Inc. was one of these companies, NC Soft would be another. (Though that hasn’t stopped IGE from selling gold, but that’s another story lol.)

I personally would love such a service, but sadly it is not a reality.

IGE also has a bunch of workers in China making pennies
doing all the manual work of paying game accounts. Not an
easy task for a non-China based company to create from the
ground up.
