I'm not a big fan of There, but I do believe in doing your research and keeping an eye on what other people are thinking.

Remarkable. Is there some copying going on here ?
They are even charging US$200 per month for these new "private island sim" lookalikes.

I am pretty sure that There will have a long way to go to offer what SL offers right now. That being said, There does have some good points to it. Paintballing, buggies, hoverboards, and usefull events are all things that There has, that I would love to see in SL.

The neighborhoods in There are not private island sims. They are in places that already exist and are still owned by There. What people CAN buy, is a huge portazone (neighborhood) to put out in an area, and then people can join that neighborhood group and once approved, they must then buy a "lot" portazone to place INSIDE the neighborhood portazone. You may then only place your own items inside the "lot" that you own. It's probably more of a headache in There than it would be to buy a private island in SL. The whole portazone issue is causing problems in There right now. They also do not have an ignore/boot feature. That was "forgotten" or some other BS when they released the new update that had the neighborhood portazones in it.
