My problem with inventory (plz help)

i have only 2 days playing second life and i wandering alone cheking the world and sales. next i buying a piece of cloth i try use my new cloth, i search in my inventory for the cloth but the cloth dont appear in the clothing menu, appear in the object menu, next i try attach the object to my sim but i only obtain a horrible cube in my head, next i try open the box but i dont wacht any "open" command in the menu.
what is the trick to open,dress the clothing in a box?
i have other question. i make pillar for my new house, i keep the pillar in my inventory but now i dont know how take off my pillar to the world.
if anyone have the answers to my questions plz help me.

Your problem is not unique. We have all experienced these problems at first, so here are a few suggestions.

Cloth - Look in your texture folder, it's probably there. Likewise you can use the "search" function.

Items in boxes - Some vendors still use them. In SL, all items you make or have not been previously worn, will default to the head slot. I cannot count how many times Ive seen avs with boxes on thier heads. Solution: rez the box on the ground, right click, edit, content. you will see the item you purchased on the list. Drag the item into your inventory.

Pillar - The pillar is in your object folder, just drag/drop it on the ground and it will rez there.

It's a bit overwhelming at first, but be patient or (like you did here) just ask for help.

Here's bit of general advice, Nemphadus. You'll have lots of questions when you start playing SL, and one place to get answers is at Ahern, where Linden Liasons and Mentors and other helpful people congregate.

Yes, it's annoying to get stuck with a box on your head! Everybody gets that when they start. You need to right click on it, and choose Drop to make it go onto the ground. Then right click on it, and choose Edit to get at the things inside. Clicking Edit gives you the Edit window, which has tabs at the top. Click the Content tab to get at the contents of that box. You'll see one or more folders that you can click and drag to your inventory. Just make sure to open your inventory window first. There's a button for that at the lower right hand of your screen. lol, this is actually refreshing to see in this forum amidst the ranting and raving of the current threads. It reminds me of when I was a few days old, and running around SL as a tall green bald guy wearing only underwear with a party hat on my head, and a lantern in my hand. I had no clue about the clothes being packaged in boxes either. the first time I bought clothes and tried them on, I got the box, and thought I was ripped off. I went to complain to someone and they told me how to get the items from inside the box. Boy did I feel like an idiot.
