I heard from another member who recently purchased an island that they can now be resold... Looking through the island purchase info, this appears to be incorrect?
What do you guys think? Too good to be true?

Too good to be true? They could always be resold. Once you buy one you are free to do with it what you wish. There is a $100 transfer fee (or $150, can't remember off the top of my head) to move it to a new resident. The purchase price is up to you. Unless you're talking about the new covenants and the ability to parcel off and sell pieces like do on the mainland? |

Too good to be true? Sort of. Land on islands can also be 'sold' in pieces. Although ownership doesn't change hands officially and tier is paid through rent. A nifty land rental systems for island (estate) land now exists! ^^ A.P. |

From the Island FAQ, item 9:
9. Can I Transfer My Island? Private islands are transferable by the original owner to another SL resident. The billing will continue on the same schedule and buyer will be billed for the full amount of the next month's payment. The cost of transfer is US$100 and will be billed to the seller. This payment is for the back-end work by Linden Lab including changing settings, billing transfer, changing the name, and returning the island to original terraform (if desired). Any additional changes, including custom terraforming, will be billed to the buyer at the rate of $53 an hour. The island can only be transferred as a single parcel. It will not be possible to sell subsections of the island at any time. Any transfer of funds, whether in L$ or US$, must be handled between the original owner and the new owner. Linden Lab is unable to provide billing support, or to enforce any payment agreements between you and the new owner. Please note that before we are able to initiate a transfer, we will need written confirmation (email or IM) from both the buyer and the seller. If you would like to transfer your island, please send an email to concierge@secondlife.com. It may take up to two business days from the date we receive confirmation from both parties to complete the transfer, so please keep this in mind when attempting to transfer an island before an upcoming bill date. |

A nifty land rental systems for island (estate) land now exists! ^^ A.P. It's not rental land owners retain teir would you rather we subsidized someones land purchase? So I should pay 195 a month so someone doesn't have to pay linden their tier but can live on what I spent 1250 on and must now pay 195 a month to maintain for them? I don't think so. It's no different than with the lindens you pay tier just not with a 9.95 fee on top of it. Also no reputable island owner would ever screw over a buyer but just like the mainland which is full of rip offs there will always be someone taking advantage of it just it wont be so rampant since no one is forced to buy island land and pay to keep their account from being closed by linden. Lets stop doing the popular american make it look worse than it is trend we are living in. _____________________
