What effect would the Cube of Death have on property values?

I would be more worried about the effects it would have on your personal safety. I think some folks would be trying to track you down if you actually built and turned on such a thing.

As for the land values, I believe it would allow you to buy all surrounding land very cheaply.

As someone who owns an island, and very little other land, I am not affected in any way by the Cube of Death and am not advocating any violence towards it's creator.

Wow...that's really...bold, Buster.

I think you could compare notes with Blue Burke who turned on a Yellow Cube of Venom in Alston once. And many others have come before you....

But...you've added that extra special Buster something that we have all come to cherish : )

I would say, watch those neighbors skedaddle north! And watch property values plummet! Great room-clearer!

I do have to say that my Purple Cube of Venom in Cecropia had more sales this week than any other cube or high-end architecture I've put anywhere, anytime.

They work.

Were I of an evil turn of mind, I might put such a monstrosity on a piece of land I wanted to sell, perhaps driving the value of that parcel up in proportion to the neighbors' desire to get rid of it.

Naaaah, that's not as evil as putting it out there with no option for the neighbors to do anything about it.

Still waiting for some way to "mute" a property so that Club Obnoxious two lots away never rezzes at all.

But you wouldn't do that to me, right, Neighbor? :B

Nothing personal, but I'd rather interact with a virtual world than view a slideshow... and a really slow, jerky slideshow at that.

The problem isn't necessarily the neighborhood club - there are a lot of massive builds nearby and it could be any of them. And if the slowdown is caused by server-side processor bottlenecks, surpressing the rez on my client won't help at all.

Besides, I haven't even started placing MY flashy particle effects yet :P

In case any neighbors read the forums, relax -- my Cube of Death lasted only long enough to take its picture. It came down faster than it went up.

But there are other nice cubes of death in the new continent, so it is still a good sight-seeing spot.

I've always fantasized about having the ability to filter the environment - say when trying to do something, just stream down your objects and nothing else - save bandwidth, etc..

Of course, start it out as accepting everyone who is not explicitly denied - so the newbie from yesterday who is tomorrows virtuoso will still be recognized, but also having the flexibility to ignore someone who puts up particles/structures/sounds or whatever, that you personally would rather not see.

We can filter the web, why not put similar tools in the hands of SL users? It really could go a long way in creating a better experience.

The 'neighbor' comment is 'cause I miss those mushrooms next to my house, in some strange way. :)
Though I do like the trees.

I may have to scrape together a few extra dollars and buy that lot, so I can finally build a wider house. >.>
