I'm sitting on the bleachers in crashy Pooley. Phil just answered a question from Mitchi Lumin about getting improvements to group tools. Mitchi is really serious about it. Phil is too. He says better group tools are key to growth of the mainland and the mainland is likely to grow by 1000 sims by the end of the year.

He says about two thirds of all the sims in SL are mainland right now.

I just crashed again so I'm posting this.

Cool, well that answers that question :D I must have been smoking something

EDIT: Thanks for posting btw, I can't get in-world and have been wondering if he'd say anything along these lines. Much appreciated.

yw Moof. I got back in after crashing, and just crashed again. Phil is taking questions from the audience. I asked him if we're going to be stuck with a big 2D grid for the world forever. I've been reading about all the reserving spots problems here. Phil says not forever, but it won't change soon. He likes the idea of stacked sims making a 3D grid.

They'll probably post the transcript somewhere later.

I got back in and crashed again. It's not just me.

Does stacked sims mean that all current landowners will be restricted to building below 256 meters? Current regions are 256mx256m with unlimited building above. I can't see how stacking sims would be better for current landowners. But it would be a nice source of income for someone selling the air space above all the ground parcels.

If they were to stack sims vertically, they should add space sims above the point where you can't currently build, perhaps even further up into a troposphere(?) of sorts. Make this area a new "space region" that is buildable 256x256x700vertical. Designate a new "space" server for this place. No land to contend with. A special space prim that can be rezzed in mid air. No gravity perhaps.

Actually I never saw any of the real questions about the main grid answered such as protections on the main grid vs those on islands. A lot of people have had bad experiences on the main grid and would be reluctant to invest on them. A lot of touchy subjects were carefully avoided.

As usual, I'm not surprised.

Loniki I heard a lot of questions flying around and they didn't get answered. Jeska was trying to get people to put questions on the queue instead. Mitchi is a co owner of Lusk I think and they need better group tools to make their shared management work. Phil took Mitchi's question seriously for sure.

Salazar Phil's thing about a 3D world grid was vague. It sounded like something they don't think is a priority. There wasn't any talk about how it would work or the cool portal ideas or reserving spots problems I read here on the forums. Phil was mainly saying SL is growing, SL is going to keep on growing, LL is growing and it's not going to be sold.

Is it raining? Is it snowing?
Is a hurricane a-blowing?
Not a speck of light is showing,
So the danger must be growing.
Are the fires of Hell a-glowing?
Is the grisly reaper mowing?
Yes, the danger must be growing,
For the rowers keep on rowing,
And they're certainly not showing,
Any signs that they are slowing

Sorry, couldn't resist!

I wonder where this boat will take us? Are we rowers or just along for the ride?
