1: Platform provider who run the system and rent out information channels to the highest bidders

2: Media outlets who rent channels, provide the content and rent out ads

3: Advertisers who rent the media ads

Linden Lab should have open application/contest for platform providers. Platform provider need to offer channels openly, no favoritism, fully transparent and whoever bid most wins. Media outlets need offer ads on free market, no favoritism, no private deals, open pricing/bidding.

If you are good scripter and provide the good quality platform, then I will support you by rent one channel and give it to the Dreamland community to provide you the news and content from our continent.

If you run one interesting media outlet with attractive content, then I will support you with ads.

Individuals or businesses who received licenses/priviledges in some behind closed doors and non transparent process will not get my support, nor will anybody who grants licenses/priviledges to others in one non-open way. I will boycott those 100%. I spent long enough in China. Corruption stink, we don't need that in SL!

What we need in SL are freaking web pages. Not more red tape.

And some basic text on a prim.

I realize that I don't actively particpate in SL commerce to a great extent anymore. However despite the fact I dont particularly like Anshe or her business tactics, I agree with her 100% on this.

I'll be finishing up TLML/TLTP as soon as I get the joint-based animator scripts done.

No, what we need is an easier and better way to search and categorise properties, so that we can find what we want quickly.

Sims Online has a great system for at least finding the type of place you are looking for, so with that categorisation system and the keyword subsearch, I'd say it was pretty much perfect.

"If you run one interesting media outlet with attractive content, then I will support you with ads."

Like that means anything.....

"Corruption stink, we don't need that in SL!"

Land Barons are corrupt. Draw your own conclusion.

I notice that you still do this a lot, so again, you don't use the transliteration of "ein Interessieren" to "one interesting" ... in English it's "an interesting", nicht wahr?.

How much were you thinking would be a fair rental for a system like this? I'm intrigued.

I'm also somewhat curious. What's the definition of a media outlet for this format?

Though I'm backing away more from SL as a whole, I still help to represent and promote InnerLife (link in sig).

Also, I don't know what the percentage of your rentors are Uru-fugees, but I keep an open communication link between the varying Uru sub-communities throughout multiple venues (SL, Until Uru / H'uru, There, and other areas). News on this subject is still quite frequent, enough to generate new entries of general interest about once or twice a week.

Honestly, I don't know. I guess it would kinda depend on how many visitors are at those kiosks, which one could count. Probably some bidding/auction process would make most sense. Maybe start auction off 3-5 information channels and then expand one by one to 10 or 15. I'd be in as serious bidder for one channel and would try to support the pleasent and useful content on it.

As an aside, I find Anshe's English quite charming.

I would suggest, too, that y'all try being multi-lingual. We here in the U.S. are sadly deficient in multi-linguicity (is that a word?), while Europeans are not. I myself have forgotten most of my graduate-school level French. I have a Swedish friend in TSO and SL who speaks English better than most of us do. In fact, I didn't realize she was from another country until months after I knew her!

As another aside, land barons are not, by definition, corrupt. That's like saying in real life, "all real estate businesses are corrupt." The land dealers we have in SL provide needed services, just as they do in real life. You will discover one such service if you ever need to get rid of your land in a hurry, and would rather get some return on it than just abandon it at a total loss.

To the point of this thread, I'm not sure I understand such a thing as Anshe proposes, or how I feel about it. The simple solution is to remove Infonet from its vaunted position as provider of Linden information on public land, along with, oh by the way, all of its own material sitting in that same vaunted position.

Anyway, we already have a competitor! Yes, folks, I give you "Infonut!" Well actually, I don't give it to you, Prok does - he made it and it is TOTALLY ADORABLE!!!

That's absolutely correct. After all, we're not talking about lawyers here.

Note to Katt, I do *not* have time to fill Phoenix's role at the paper once this gets him killed. I will think of something witty and embarrassing to put in the obituary. <grins>

You're almost right. Transliteration, though, is the transcribing of sounds from one script to another. From the Greek alphabet to the Latin for example. What you're talking about is translation.
