Another Freakin' Stipend Thread (Simplified)

Let's do something different, folks. Instead of all the drama and idiocy associated with the stipend debates, lets just run a simple poll on it.

Just vote, don't post.

STIPENDS: KILL OR KEEP?

If LL is willing to give me more than 50 free uploads in exchange for removing my $L500 stipend, I'd very likely not give a hoot about losing it, actually.

(I still think removing the stipend is a horrible idea)

You need to clarify 'free money.' Its only free to basics.

Not another one of these "would I like to keep my free money or not" polls

Once again, the results of these "would you like to keep your free money or not" type of polls polls are transparently obvious.

The percentage of people willing to forfeit/sacrifice free money (stipend) will always be considerable smaller than those who would rather keep their free money.

For the sake of consistency however, I will once again participate in this poll and predict the results to be;

95% - "Yes! Stipends forever"
5% - "NO! Too much free money!"

There is a built-in +3%/-3% in my prediction though because I would expect, or at least hope, that the recent linden crash may have enlighten a few more of us. I'm not holding my breath though lol.

BTW, I am not an advocate of eliminating premium stipends. But "forever" is a long time

This is a badly constructed poll. I would think there are many who think stipends are good things, but could use minor or major adjustments.

You forgot to put in a "cut some of the stipend out but not all of it" option...

That's what I thought until I reread the two options.

Option 2 states, "NO! Too much free money!" It does not say do away with ALL stipends. It simply says there is too much free money entering the system.

The semantics of option 2 are very clear to me. That's why I voted for option two.

Considering the options are in answer to the question "Should Stipends be kept or not" the second option is very clear in that it would do away with all stipends... Hence my inability to choose either of them.

Me, for one. I'm for giving up my own stippend, and think stippends are causing a huge imbalance between supply and demand, but I don't want them completely gone, just lowered a bit

Yes, I see your point. But option two does not support the requirements of the question. I believe that you, Rasah, and I want the same thing.

That is why I'm stating it here so that others cannot claim that I want all stipends to end. I did not vote for that. I voted for the option that stated there is too much free money.

If the poll options are changed to state "end all stipends," then I will rescind my vote. Of course, at this point, the poll options cannot be altered. So, we are left with the original two choices.

It's going to be amazingly easy to misrepresent your vote...
I still cannot vote for either of them, since I know some people will look at it as though I'm saying "kill the stipend"
