The only stable industry around, and I mean really stable, is a nationalised industry.

Maybe by making their own trading service, LL have nationalised the industry of currency exchange.

I have been wanting them to do something to combat the massive drop on the L$ yesterday.

Maybe they anticipated this all along, and their effort to nationalise currency trading was the start of them realising that the Linden dollar is insecure and needs regulation, as do the ways in which it is traded.

When the Linden currency exchange opens it could be the start of a new era, almost a whole new currency. They will be able to regulate everything, and watch for manipulation, and they won't operate with the motive of profit.

I'd like to name the post Linden currency exchange linden dollar the "Linden Dollar Two". I hope LL make the most of the opportunity their currency exchange offers.

I suspect LL will police against market manipulation as well as they police against the pre-puberty push-gun brigade.

Or it could be a complete disaster ;) As far as I can tell its only half an exchange, I.E. you can only place sell orders orders and the sellers have to "Approved" in some way. So its entirely feasible that a few L$ barons will take it over much like Land.

PS I'm in a cynical mood today so my apologies ;)

Yeah, the LL currency thingy is a whole new thing. What will LL make of the opportunity? I can't say. But it's a big chance, that's for sure.

==Edit==

And right now we could REALLY use the stability something like this could bring...

Eggy's making the point that nationalized industry is Fascist Economics. Which is true.

Of course once you bring the Nazis into anything even as a tangential joke, people begin to freak out (to some extent understandably). So he may have been trying to kill the thread.

Eggy never rode on British Rail, which was a heck load better than a lot of the privatised rail companies we have in the UK at the moment.

England... The only country in Europe not to get invaded by the Nazis, and not a goose step in sight.

Don't talk to me about trains. It took me 7 hours to get home on Sunday :mad: because of engineering works and why is it you can never find a bloody seat on Virgin Trains? Richard Branson needs a slap.

Yeah I've been on one or two cattle class Virgin trains, sitting on the floor the whole way :(

They really need to work on that. Trains in the UK are now the most costly way to travel, but not the fastest or most luxurious. They're alright, but they need a lot of work.
