According to the spreadsheet, we're averaging around ~900 land parcels per week.
According to secondlife.com/land there were only 574 land sales in the last 7 days.
Have we seriously dipped or is there something else here?

Have we seriously dipped or is there something else here? Not sure, but if the price per m drops significantly, that would indicate to me that the land market is over saturated. |

But uh... if 100% of the land is owned, that means that folks are still buying land, right? And hence tiering up, and hence paying linden labs a tier fee, right?
Is'nt that all that matters? LF _____________________

Yes, volume is more important than price.
I was wondering if volume has dropped or the spreadsheet values are different than what is reported in sl.com/land _____________________

I think the number of parcels sold on the web page is probably a mistake. Let me check it out and I'll try to get back to you soon.

I'm wondering if we are already seeing the Lindens putting into practice something that Philip Linden mentioned in his last town meeting, namely, larger parcels for bigger prices to be sold to the small group of "land barons" who are the regulars at the auction each week. I'd appreciate those with historical memory commenting on this.
A real down side to the new website revision -- you can no longer access the "completed auctions" for anything more than the previous day. Will LL be adding this back? I noticed that prices were higher, and parcels larger this week. Look at Ravenglass opening at about $587 for more than 50,000 acres, for example. I've speculated about all this in my blog http://secondthoughts.typepad.com Philip said they couldn't justify the unit staff time on making smaller parcels and the paperwork that no doubts goes into billing more customers for less amounts, etc. I'm writing to him to suggest that he simply get some seasoned and trusted players to volunteer to do that work if it really is an issue of staff time -- but I can't help thinking it's more about LL's bottom line. Obviously it's in their interests to sell as much land as they can in large parcels to as few customers so that administrative and programming costs are kept down. |

I'm able to see five days worth of closed auctions. Please IM me if this problem persists for anyone. |
