If I buy land and build a house in a PG sim, does that mean that I can't do anything naughty in it?

Just asking ;-)

Behind your locked doors and drawn curtains your build your within your kingdom.

But outside (out- doors) your under the Linden sky and PG rules apply.

In true American fashion, you can have all the violence you want, but if you have even a bit of sexuality, you're risking a tempban or removal of your objects.

That said, there was a guy that actually had a tasteful picture of a naked lady up in... Tan, I believe it was, or some other PG sim for several months, as a protest to the "American" rules of what's PG and what's M. The Lindens never did a thing about it, most likely because no one ever abuse reported it.

As per Rheya Linden (I think), but definitely some linden... and I quote:

"It is ok to have intimate relations behind closed, locked doors in a pg sim."

So... take that where ya want. If you don't try really hard to be an ass, you'll probably be ok.

Quick guidelines to follow:

1) No T's.
2) No A's.
3) Definitely no T&A's.
4) No sexxin'.
5) No yiffin'.
6) No nakedin'.

That pretty much covers it.

If that's true, they've changed the rules a lot lately. It used to be (though I didn't notice in the latest version of the TOS) that any and all adult content and textures needed to be indoors and out of sight even in a M sim, and shouldn't be in a PG sim at all. Not that anyone ever took any notice, and without abuse reports, SL is getting a big place to police.

You can not have sex toys and nudity in a PG home, nothing has changed. You would think that what you do in your own home is your business and its hard to understand the motives of someone reporting abuse on you or your objects in your own home, but you have to maintain PG standards if you choose to live in a PG zone. You can try to get away with M standards and practices in your own home and chances are nothing will come of it, but if your seen by someone that decides to report your behavior, you will be at fault and wont have a leg to stand on.

If you plan to routinely have M content on your property, buy M land.

I checked into this to make sure because I was dabbling in real estate. I am 100% certain that the quote is good.

We are talking about peoples' 'homes' here. If you take reasonable precautions so that you don't offend anyone, it's all good. If someone goes around looking for people having sex so they can pretend to be offended, that's their problem. As long as you are discreet, the Lindens won't bother you.

Ask a Linden yourself if you'd like to make sure.

It'd be really spiffy if a Linden would take the time to post here and let us know the policy for certain. All I could come up with was this:

"Indecency
Second Life is an adult community, but Mature material is not necessarily appropriate in all areas (see Global Standards below). Content, communication, or behavior which involves intense strong language or expletives, nudity or sexual content, the depiction of sex or strong violence, or anything else broadly offensive must be contained within private land in areas rated Mature (M). Names of Residents, objects, places and groups are broadly viewable in Second Life directories and on the Second Life website, and must adhere to PG guidelines."

and this:

"Global Standards, Local Ratings
All areas of Second Life, including the www.secondlife.com website and the Second Life Forums, adhere to the same Community Standards. Locations within Second Life are noted as Safe or Unsafe and rated Mature (M) or non-Mature (PG), and behavior must conform to the local ratings. Any unrated area of Second Life or the Second Life website should be considered non-Mature (PG)."

from here:

https://secondlife.com/comstandards.php

That seems pretty clear to me, but if a Linden told someone otherwise, well, maybe that Linden needs to post here to explain their interpretation of these guidelines.
