OK, please refrain from hate posts, arrows, and slings of fate. Put them in other threads, please. This is a straight non-nonsense, post sticking to topic only, namely: can groups of players get together when new sims are rolled out and "save them" at least from mall-maul and lag-club?
A new sim has been born last night called Cub. SUCH a cute name, eh? Don't you want to take it *home* with you??!!
Cub looks almost exactly like Ravenglass, but it isn't as pretty, for my money, but then, I'm partial : )
Cub has a nice island with lots of water, but not so big the tier will choke you. And it has a mainland with waterfront -- all nice! For some reason, in their Infinite Wisdom, the Lindens chopped up Cub into four big parcels. Maybe they reason that when you sell whole sims like Midge or Moraine or Ravenglass, well, what happens is that wholesalers then chop them up and sell them, and create, say, 15 little green points of light or 30 little green points of light on that sim and that just means more wear-and-tear on servers and more trouble tickets? I don't know how they think of these things. But with Cub, they are probaby aiming for just four quiet green dots that will just put high-end estates on it and not ask lots of annoying customer service type questions.
I'm not going to get involved in this one at all so please, no flames. I just point out that if four people got their act together, they could either bid on the sim separately, or collectively buy out whoever does win the bids. One-forth of a sim can be very manageable for some people.
The subdivides don't strike me as the cleverest in the world, but they are probably liveable. This sim is very near the new Wixom telehub and very near the road -- on the next sim over which has some name like Ouchquack or Oestrogen or something (sorry, the game is down). That means that it isn't as quiet and peaceful as Ravenglass, which is away from the telehub a good 800 meters. But it does mean that if you had a residence/small business with vendors or *gasp* a laggy club, you'd have traffic. You could put maybe one laggy club, on the island, trying to build it not as laggy as the average bear, and have 3 mansions....or....stores...? Take a look.
Just a thought. There doesn't seem to be any first-land or Linden-protected-land on Cub, so this might be the chance to experiment with that idea of Lordfly's to make a public space, then ask the Lindens to buy it back (I can't imagine they will institute a system that creates billing nightmares, but maybe they could at least absolve the tier off that chunk).
