I have a rectangular plot of land, and would like to get the coordinates of the corners so that I can ensure that when placing/sizing objects I stay within my land's boundaries...
Does anyone know of a way to do this?
Also, what happens if I accidentally place an object slightly off my land (and so partially on either someone else's land or partially on Linden protected land)? My lot is a hill, so it can be hard to place large objects near the edges/corners of my lot...
Thanks in advance!

You can rez a cube on the corners of the plot and edit it and note its position.
If your slightly over your property line, not a lot will happen except you may have an upset neighbor on your hands. One problem with building right on the line is your neighbor doing the same. You may find their trees coming into your build, for example. Its best to give yourself a little buffer and not build right on the line when you can avoid it.

Thanks in advance! Your coordinates are shown at the bottom of the mini map, so you could just stand in the corner and note that down! A more accurate way is to simply rez a prim and move it into the corner, edit>objects tab you can read the x,y,z location of the prim If you place an object on someone elses land, it may well get returned to your inventory straight away if the owner has auto return on. If it is not turned on, and you leave an object on someone elses land, they are able to both return the object manually, or delete it if they wish.

Great! Those methods of getting my lot's coordinates are great ideas. Thanks a lot!
I'm glad that if I mis-place objects that my neighbors can return or delete them. I want to be a good neighbor, but there's always the chance I'll mess up (I'm quite new to SL) and I'm pleased that my neighbors can "reclaim" any of their land I may have inadvertently used.

You can set the bounderies to visible. At the top of the screen, click view, view property lines. Repeat to remove.

You can also turn on your land borders. They don't lie. Press esc to get out of chat mode and press P. They should show right up.

Another thing I have done in your (hillside) situation is make temporary walls to aid as a visual guide. Build them right on your property line and raise them up to where you are working. That way, you dont have to look down the hill to judge your property line.
