What exactly is the Land Angels group doing?

Does anyone know?

Yes, I think they have explained in several other posts, none of which I can be bothered to find tho.

I believe (this is my perception) that they take n00b 512 plots, give the n00bs 1024 plots and then maybe sell on or group up the 512's.

Yes, I tracked down those posts before I posted this one. I think that sort of thing is important when posting.

Unfortunately, that's what they said they're going to do and doesn't necessarily mean they are doing it.

I also found my original post where I said this was a good idea .. I think I was just lashing back at the witch hunts and lynch mobs. In retrospect now, I feel a bit foolish.

When you think about it.. land resellers are shooting themselves in the feet if this what they are doing.

Market arbitrage is one thing (and a good thing) because it gives people mobility and liquidity. This has long been proven to be economically a very sound thing to do for all markets.

The ability for the US to flexibly adjust their economy is based partially on the liquidity of their markets .. thus 'land baroning' is a good thing.

However, taking desireable land and trading it for undesirable land isn't a 'good' thing. It's preying on the naivety of new users. Gives us all a bad name, but especially it gives said Land Resellers a terrible reputation, even among those who are knowledgeable about such manners.

Hopefully this isn't what Land Angels are doing..

Yes I agree,

Taking a nice 512 with nice views, etc etc, and then giving someone a stupidly shaped, ugly views 1024 plot would be wrong.

a) n00bs don't really know what they are getting into
b) it should be a fair swap

All I can suggest is maybe they make some kind of sideline help group, with maybe people like ourselves that can skim over both land sites and maybe give the n00bs pointers on the pros and cons of each land. Of course the helpers would have to be 3rd party and not at all related with Land Angels.

I don't know much about land angels, and I know there are a few good people in the group, people whom I respect alot, but if they are already getting a tarnished name, maybe the above suggestion would help both the Angels keep a good reputation and the n00bs get some good land

Threads like this particular one are one of the reasons the group is being tarnished unnecessarily. Refer to my post in Catherine's thread about the group, I don't feel like rehashing it all again because Blaze feels the need to post yet another me too topic thread.

I was trying to lift the conversation out of a thread which has fallen into attack mode. If you want to answer in the other thread, no problem, but lets stop personalizing everything.

Nice thought! However, If you are going to start a new post, why not try asking more detailed questions instead of "Does anyone know?" Gawd!!! This opens up for anyone to answer with their own opinions. The only answers I care to hear (no offense Cris and Willow, I love you both) is from Anshe. She created the group, this was her idea, and I want to know details. Before anyone says its none of my business, it is all of our business, cause we has a community want to make sure that the newbs get a fair deal. If they get ripped off, they may not know it at first but will eventually know and then leave SL. If they leave SL, then we could be losing some potentially great investors and creators in SL.

Yes, in retrospect, it was quite a dumb post.

But, that's not too surprising. I tested my IQ once and it was pretty low.

The entire group is being spoken of in these forums, and while Anshe is the founder in the group she is only one member of it. The other officers of the group have a voice in its direction, and an established relationship with each other to ensure that there are no power grabs within the group. While certainly an answer from Anshe will help, any member of the group can speak to what is trying to be accomplished, since a group's mission evolves as you add more people to it and time goes on, so I am curious why you want only her to answer.

The initial intention was to find an easy way for new players to take the next step beyond First Land affordably by collectively using our resources as established players. What methods we will use to do so ultimately are still being decided and attempted. I will point out that First Land is the second iteration of the Land for the Landless program - not everything starts out clearly or perfectly on first attempt.

The reason I would like for her to answer is because this was orginally her idea. I know the basics of what the group is for because as you know my bf is a part of this group as well. However, there are certain detailed questions which I had addressed in the other thread on land angels that Cat started and I did include in my last post (in the other thread) that although I would prefer to hear from Anshe that if anyone in the group can answer my questions, that would be satisfactory. This is not an attack at all on anyone in the group. I have made my position clear and that is that I have a open mind so far. If you are able to answer my questions Cris that would be great you can find them in the other thread, I posted them yesterday.
