At any rate I'm buying as much $L as I can on sunday night, when all the remaining rich bastids try to cash out.

This will actually be kind of interesting for a while, because very few avs will be walking around with a lot of $L. Prices might plummet on all sorts of things, which I think will be great. Price deflation, despite the myths that Keynesians and Central Bankers have sold us, is not necessarily to be feared. It tends to de-institutionalize the economy, which is often healthy.
What's good for GM(Or in our case, the top of the 'leader boards') is probably not good for the rest of us.

Yeah, I'm really kinda curious how this will play out.

I suspect the new exchange will be up pretty soon, however.

Nope, we will not. On Oct. 3rd, no one will be able to get back into SL. They will have closed forever.

OK, back to the real world...

SL will still be around, I think there will be a big change. I think that a lot of the established players will notice the change more then the new players. Change is coming, there is nothing that can be done. Do what you need to do. I hope this won't cause a complete economic meltdown.

Are we so sure that this is going to crash the linden before Sunday night? I'm not. Right now the "panic" is causing the linden to rise, not fall. Maybe everyone is going out to store up on cheap lindens thinking they won't be able to buy for a few weeks.

As everything else in SL, this too shall pass.

short of LLab going out of business, the world will continue.

Being completely decentralized has that benefit.

THE SKY IS FALLING, OMFG

Well, actually, I've never used GOM or the likes. Losing the exchange for a week or two won't be noticeable on my end. *shrug*

If things become scarce, we'll adjust. Humans are quite well known for their ability to adapt. We've had a lot of 'Sky is falling!' moments in the past and now when people look back to them, they tend to laugh at how silly they were acting.

Unless you happen to work for GM, a Ford dealership, one of GM's Banks, one of GM's small business partners (suppliers) or live in Michigan. ;)
