LindeX money sink suggestion

I was thinking, that possibly the easiest way to create a money sink would be in LindeX itself. I'm not sure it might work though, but it's an idea.

Today, when you sell L$ on LindeX, you are charged a fee.

"Sellers of currency will pay a fee of 3.5% per transaction. Proceeds will be credited to your US$ account balance."

I propose this is being changed from 100% US$ (of the 3.5%) to some percent USD, and som epercent L$ (destroying that L$, acting as a money sink).

Lindens could fine tune the exact percentage of US$ vs L$ of that 3.5% (going from 100% US$ to 100% L$, the exteme ends), as needed. At the extreme, this would take out 3.5% of L$'s sold on LindeX, which might be more than enough money to stabilize the L$. (Comments on this?)

Why should LL subsidize LindeX usage ?

A good, stable economy means more value, users and business for Linden Labs.

Same as for countries in RL which aim to create an attractive business environment for inventors, companies by having a stable economy.

Subsidizing LindeX (which is not actually a subsidy, though) is a small price to pay. You seem to imply that NOT maximizing a direct profit in a sub-business would be subsidy. I say it's a kind of cross-financing, that's a small price to pay.

LL could also take the money that was until now for DI and use it to buy lindens on Lindex, effectively destroying them. But why spend real cash if you can print play money or use unpaid volunteers? :p

Charge a fee that the market won't bear and other currency traders will be getting the business. Just something to think about.

The market is already paying the 3.5% fee on LindeX now. No increase there. Just something to think about :-)

LOL... That's what I get for reading too quickly. I just re-read your original post (twice) before I got exactly what you suggested. I must be having a blonde day.
