This forum seems to be just a giant repeat of itself. Half of the threads are just big economy arguments that go the same way EVERY single thread. It starts out, usually with someone trying to argue that the stripends (lol welfare to some) are killing the economy. The first couple pages of the thread is filled with people arguing about how they pay for their stripend. Then comes the third or forth page where the people who started the thread run out of arguements and start insulting the people saying they are wrong!
These threads are fun to read but do you guys think you could, I dunno, change it up every once in a while so the entertainment value is still there? Why don't the thread posters start out with insults and end with solid evidence? Would make things quite fun!

Because I'm too busy cashing out my 500L stipend to go buy a soda and a cookie. I hit the jackpot!

From: ReserveBank Division I would bring the house down with insults if it wasn't for the Forum Socialist in San Francisco who like to quash freedom of speach.... Oh, because freedom of speech applies to privately owned forums. Oh wait, no it doesn't. I see this argument on forums a lot, and it holds no water. Can you go to a grocery store, stand in aisle five, and preach ideas to the people who are shopping? No. Can the KKK go to an NBA basketball game and hold a rally on the court, claiming freedom of speech? No, they cannot. Freedom of speech doesn't mean you can go anywhere you want and say whatever you want, whenever you want. That's why you see protesters getting arrested for peaceful demonstration, because they broke the rules, probably trespassing, or invading someone elses PRIVATE property, which is exactly what these forums are. Notice this: Copyright ©2000 - 2006, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. Copyright 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 Linden Lab Sitting at the bottom of the page, is legal language about ALL the content on this site and in the forums. This means that anything you "publish" on the forums is property of Linden Labs. Read the forum rules (you KNOW you didn't) to see just how much constitutional power you actually have on the forums, which is jack squat. I have seen people attempt litigation on the speEch issue, as well as pitiful attempts at libel suits, which are laughed out of court before they get there. You may think you have a "right" to post on the forums, but it is simply a privleage, provided to you by the people who have actual legal power over said forums. But, thanks for playing!

From: slick McCoy Why don't the thread posters ... end with solid evidence? Oh, that sounds like hard work. Couldn't have that. You are obviously a socialist for suggesting such a thing. Unless you are a capitalist. Dang, confused again. I got it, an anarcho-syndicalist! That's you alright, I've got your number! There will that do?

Actually, copright notices have no power at all, they're just a reminder. If there's something in the rules we agreed to when we signed up (which, yes, I haven't read ) that says anything we post here belongs to LL then they own it, otherwise the copyright belongs to the poster. The notices at the bottom of the page most likely refer to the software and site design.

Some statements in this forum are ...mmm ... what ? An insult to a large majority of the non-american world (and to american as-well) ... Yes... something like that.
When, some people, rely on the "free speech", 1st amendment and stuff like that, you safely ignore the rest of the world.
You claim that you have the right to say what you think, freely, because your state eventually allow that. Ignoring the rest of the world, after all... it's not your, huh ?
I noticed many things. First of all, i thought the "free speech" allowed to say what you think about government, to your government. Obviously, Linden Lab isn't a goverment. And the forum isn't a communication device to write what your think about your government, or to express your political thought. Maybe i'm wrong, of course, i don't live in USA and i'm not submited to the USA's law. I hardly know the law of my own country, i don't have time to learn yours..
But... well... Anyway, this forum isn't "american", it's "Linden Lab". And poster here must comply with the "linden lab's law". I notice a lot of disciminatory statements in this forum, forbidden by my country's laws, forbiden by the human right, and forbidden by the Linden Lab TOS. You claim a right, "free speech". But you infrige many laws.
Thoses discriminatory statements aren't fun anymore... since a long time ago. And i could seriously spend some hours to force Linden Lab to stop thoses disciminatory statements.
It's american's laws (i'm still not sure if the "free speach" really allow that kind of statements) against the "human right" (article 2, article 6, article 10, article 12, article 29 and, finally, article 30) and against (the most important), Linden Lab's TOS.
Guess who's the winner ?

I saw "script" in the thread title, and that got me thinking: Lets make a special forum for discussion of the stipend. Everyone interested makes a script. Each tuesday the script is given one of two arguments; "socalist" or "capatalist". The script then has to generate flames to support the economic style passed to it.

I think of things like this like Hoke in Driving Miss Daisy. That's prolly too self-referential, but there is something reverent in relaxation while in motion.
