Purchasing New Last Names Economic Affect?

So this talk about being able to buy last names sounds interesting. Perhaps you'll buy them with USD, perhaps with Lindens. Personally I would prefer to be able to buy it with Lidens, like the fee for partnerships, though I suspect it would cost a fair bit more.

If this feature makes it in, and the purchase method is Linden, do you suppose this will have an affect on the economy? Perhaps it will drain the Lindex of some funds as people buy nams for themselves, for their clubs, etc. I think they were proposing having it be an annual fee to, so it might indeed be a lasting effect, as opposed to something like the snow land, as eventually, it all sold out, plus people lost some of their interest.

So what do you think? If you could buy your own last name, and you had to buy it with Lindens, and it cost say 5,000-10,000L, would it noticeably affect the economy?

Sinks are predicated on volume. But its a no-risk situation for LL. If there's high volume, they make a bunch of money and have a sink that works. If there's low volume, they make fewer lindens and its a failed sink but hey they have happy customers.
