someone said to me today that they'd likely not be hired to build in the near future because people would have much less money to pay them. i begged to differ.
philip said yesterday that sl is supporting around twenty-thousand accounts. if half of those are lifetime and premium accounts, post change they're netting at least twenty million lindens a month in stipend alone.
i count an average of fifty or so daily events over the last few weeks. if there are that many every day for thirty days, and they're all sponsored, that's a payout of just over one million lindens.
robin said today that the event support amounted to about five percent of the standard payouts. but these calculations don't even include what's left of bonuses or dwell. so we're still having nineteen million plus bonuses and dwell pumped into the economy monthly. i have to agree with the lindens looking from a global perspective. it just doesn't seem like much of a dent to the overall economy.

Depends on where he or she worked

The issue of whether or not someone would have money to pay does to some large extent depend on how that person made his or her income. I will have some money still because I relied on events for only about 25% of my income. However, the rate bonuses will also significantly affect me. I will lose a total of about $750 per week due to the policy change. This has already impacted my spending habits, primarily in terms of clothing. Now instead of buying those supercute boots, I am much more likely to make my own and wear a long skirt. Also, I did build my own pad recently when I needed a rebuild instead of hiring someone, largely because of the pay cut. (Though I am still looking for a builder ot make my library.) I also made the decision to turn two premium accounts into basic accounts. Perhaps now I will be able to afford photoshop (well in a few months).
