Hey folks, this is my first time posting to the forums, (I've only been in SL a week now) so please excuse my Noobness. A couple of days ago there was a post lamenting how snow sims are still unpopular. I am going to be tiering up shortly and would LOVE to build in a snow sim, but every one I have visited has been over developed, and is quite crowded. Also, all available land I have seen seems to be either very flat or a sheer cliff. I would really like to find some land high up in the nose bleed seats but haven't got the first idea of where to look. I love the idea of a cabin in the mountains, but I don't know if this even exists. Someone, I'm sorry I foget who, posted a beautiful description of their land, and it sounds almost exactly like what I am looking for. Any help? Thanks inadavance.

You just have to keep looking through the land sales in find. Mountain tops tend to be smaller than the plains below them, so it is harder to find that land for cheap unless it is a cliff face like you mentioned. You might just look around some snow sims and see if any the land on the top of the mountains is for sale. Be prepared to see higher prices, it is just the way things are when a type of land is harder to find. I believe in Chaska I have land at the bottom of a snow mountain. You might try looking at the top of the mountain to see if anyone up there is selling land.

Unfortunately, I just sold my last lot of snow land, otherwise I'd have been able to help you!
As far as nosebleed but buildable lots are concerned, I've loved the topography of the land in Livigno since the Sim came out, but was never able to afford the prices at the time. You might want to check the map now to see if there's anything there or in adjoining Sims.

You might want to check out Vail. While much of it is covered with tacky builds a few of us original settlers have stuck to our ideals and even kept the trees..OMG what an idea! If you go to Vail and head for the trees you will see a nice area with trees with urban slums on the horizon. There is land for sale next to my ancestral home.

Aeryck, there are indeed some good snowy mountains in SL.
Terraforming's part of why so much snow land looks as flat as the barest tundra. A lot of people steamroll the second they get the land, then plonk a huge prefab house on it; they usually don't revert the land to its natural state after that. One of the reasons I prefer buying virgin land is that it hasn't been ironed out and I can see just how far I'll be able to terraform it.
Livigno, mentioned by Lisse, is one of my favorite sims in SL, and my alt calls it home. There's a wonderful foggy ridge with a view of the unspoiled Linden sim of Bydalen next door. I often see land for sale in the area . . . check it out. The neighboring sim, Arosa, is similarly wonderful, with some very classy builds.
Livigno & Arosa were part of the original release of snow sims, which were first inhabited when snow land was new, rare, and wildly expensive. The original snow sims tend to not to suffer so much from the blight encountered in those that were settled during the oversupply of snow sims. Instead of cheap, board-flat land covered with fake grass prims, you'll see more beautiful cabins retreats.
As far as newer snow land . . . I noticed some particularly good snow land at the southeast edge of snow country. Some of those partly snowy sims have very pretty mountains and valleys, but I haven't checked back to see how development has gone. Oh yeah, and wasn't there a lot of land for sale way cheap in Takalo recently? Takalo has some great mountains, and pretty fog, too.
Back to first-release snow . . . there's some nice snow land available in Seefeld, across the river from my place. I almost bought there originally -- nice mountains, river views, etc. In fact, I liked Seefeld better than Grindlewald, but bought my parcel because of its specific terraforming possibilities.
I'm not sure, but there might be some land available next door to my parcel in Grindlewald in the non-distant future. I'd much rather have a snow-loving neighbor with a nice cabin than a bunch of flat grass-textured prims with palm trees (ew) or a great big black box club. If you like my neighborhood and want to build a nice wintery cabiny sort of place, I could check on the status of the land.

Kim,
That sounds great. If you could please check for me I would appreciate it. Some coords would definately help me find it as I am new, and not at all familiar wioth the areas or their names.

From: Kim Anubis Oh yeah, and wasn't there a lot of land for sale way cheap in Takalo recently? Takalo has some great mountains, and pretty fog, too. There are two lots (1024m2 and 1536m2) currently at auction in Takalo. And Verbier is a wonderful Sim too. My first snow auction win was in Verbier, and I was delighted with it - it was perfect for my honeymoon cabin. However, within 24 hours, the larger parcel behind me was purchased by a large group, and they offered me a huge sum of money to buy me out. I accepted, and bought in Isere instead, which was okay but not quite the same...

Also, I've got a middling-sized 1300 or thereabouts plot in Eldora; I've just got a "fun build" on it right now but am willing to discuss selling it, depending on your plans. My home is in Eldora so I'm trying to keep the sim somewhat nice.
