If you wish to help drive the linden down be sure to pruchase some linden! It's already down to L$293/1$ and droping. A simple $20 purchase of linden will remove L$5000+ from the system. I'm off to buy my linden now before they become any more expensive

I have of late--but wherefore I know not--lost all my mirth, that this goodly frame, the earth, seems to me a sterile promontory, this most excellent canopy, the air, look you, this brave o'erhanging firmament, this majestical roof fretted with golden fire, why, it appears no other thing to me than a foul and pestilent congregation of vapours.

So now would be a good time to buy because it could get a lot more expensive. Notice I said could ![]() |

The main problem is not on the buyer's side. It is the few big players who does large dumps when the price drop below certain level.
That plus the constant doom and gloom they were spreading on the forum makes the trend. The smaller players and merchants who need USD to pay Tier and subscription fee has no choice but exchange $L at the un-favorable rate, at which the big players may very well be gobbling up. It's a self fulfilling prophecy, the big players want to force $L down for some reason. Maybe they are trying to controlf the maojrity supply of the $L as soon as possible. With the constant discussion of stipends going away, which would reduce the amount of $L generated per week, the only way to get $L would be to buy with USD on the market. If the few choice players control 90% of $L supply. They could easily manupulate the exchange rate by having agreement of releasing only certain amount of $L at certain price per week. A clue why this may be the case is that: with al the doom and gloom, the big players are sticking around, if it's as bad as they say it is, shouldn't they have release their holding quietly, causing as little stir as possible, take the money and run? With many of them also controlling majority of land market they can easily dictate the land price: the major demand for $L. $L and land would then be more like how oil is with OPEC controlling the price. The volume of the small players and content providers really do not compare to the barons, and can only ride along. Of course without hard prove of how much who is holding, it's all speculation. But since people love conspiracy so much, may as well throw this out and see what people think. Kelly |

There are alot more mid level and small players than there are Big dogs. I suspect all of us added together control as much or more than any one big dog. Problem is everyone is out for themselves Big dogs and small dogs alike. |

I don't think the selling is intended to force the Linden down; I think it is intended to raise cash fast without someone else stepping between the bid and the ask, to use market parlance.
However, it does have the effect of forcing the Linden down, that's for sure. Linden Labs needs to think of a way to keep the market from becoming unbalanced. The Stock exchanges do this with market makers, and we need the same thing here. Linden Labs is the only entity capable of being a market maker here, of course, unless we all want to run over to IGE or something. Either that or there needs to be a hard and fast limit on how many Lindens any one person (not agent, but person) can sell during any given period. They are really setting themselves up for economic disaster by letting one or two people dominate the economy. _____________________

I think it would be great if LL created a stock market where business' could sell shares and residents could purchase shares... theres a few companies in here I'd be interested in trading in!

Why buy Lindens when you can buy a content creators account and keep the money rolling in forever?

You know any for sale? I have no idea what this model is. I sell you my business by selling you my account? Isn't that against the TOS? _____________________
