I've been trying to find what the hell Group Liability and Group Dividends are all about. The Search on the forum hasn't worked for me for days so I'm giving up and posting instead.

OK, so are these random ways to make money for Linden or is there actually something in this?

So far this week my group has paid up L$112 and received L$106. OK, so it's only a L$6 difference between four of us but why is it happening? That L$6 split between all the groups (assuming they all get the same as we are) would soon add up to some serious money.

Also, why is this money being paid into members of the group and not just the officers? The land belongs to the group but the Officers are the ones who donate the land, the members are just people who have things on the land... This all seems so pointless to me, and completely unnecessary. Who decides how much is given/removed and when? What possible reasons could there be for it when we pay our subscriptions and monthly land fees?

I want answers! :D

All members of a group get an equal cut of any income the group generates. Welcome to the commune, commrade Davis! :)

Group liability is slightly different... although the same principle.

Because the income is automatically shared out instantly (at least at the moment) - the liability comprises your share of the fees for any directory listings (the plots showing up in FIND). It is, again, evenly shared.

This might change in the nearish future, one of the things on the table for group reform is allowing people to control the group liability and dividends, although this may not happen.

OK, the liability makes a little more sense now then. In theory we should only be shelling out L$60 a week then for two plots though... I'm fine with those being listed but I still don't think it's fair on the groups members to have to pay it, I guess to receive a little back from the dividend is OK in that case though...
