Thanks Xplorer, I love to revel in the insanity!

Now someone do us favor and calculate the L$/m that would have to be charged to recoup that investment. Wait, I'll give it a quick whirl:

$3,501 = L$1,061,350 / 65536 = L$16/m

All numbers approximate, of course. In the end if you can sucker L$20/m for a land-locked sim outta people more power to ya!

Maybe the guy just really loved the name? Or has something cooked up that requires those blocks of the Mainland. Will we ever know? Get those IMs ready...

Is this just not simply supply vs demand? There must be some reasons why someone wants mainland and sim sized land must be rare. They look like they might be adjacent so that would be even rarer.

Not so rare actually, ed44. In fact plenty of four-block adjacent sims of late have been sold to one person as the South end of the Southern Continet was filled in and the East side or the Northern Continent was expanded.

However there may be a method to their madness in wanting to pay any price for those particular sims. My imagination is on the fritz for this one, though.

There were 2, so over USD 7000 for 2 sims.

I think there is a premium for mainland, but you could buy 2 private islands and pay tier on them for a year for the price.

OTOH, they are Canadian sims, eh? :D

It could be that someone (multiple someones, really) simply wants THOSE specific sims for some specific reason. Why speculate?

The two high-priced sims were bid up by the same pair of people...

For some reason, those particular people must have wanted those specific sims. As for WHY they might have wanted them, I haven't a clue.

3 things...

first, there were 2 people willing to pay that price for that auction. THATS even crazier.

second, possible scenario, wait till they get their credit card bill...and find it was US funds. :0

third, maybe the sim is using a new high performance processor and we don't know about it. :P

EXCELLENT!!! That's right near my place!!! I'm glad I'll still have untouched land right next to me!!! yaaaay!!

Trust me, I live right next to there... there ain't nothin special. I mean it's nice, I usually ride my motorcycle off a ramp on my roof, into that sim and into the water, and that's fun.... and me and some neighbors walked to the shoreline a few times and had a beach party... and that was fun
but there's nothin special over there. There's no super anti-lag situation there.

Of course they are. Kootwhatever will be too eventually. It's an ancient practice to bid outrageous prices with alts, though the altalt bidder was a nice touch, to reschedule an actual auction to the next week or two when the cash flow won't stretch quite far enough.

Get it right Schwanson! They're actually Linden enforced residentially zoned sims so there.
