Why is LL boxing in my isle?

Thank you surreal for posting, makes me feel a lot better knowing. Still feeling claustrophobic but hopefully not for long lol

old post:
I've had my isle (Fairytale Island) for over a year now and slowly but surely LL has boxed my isle in. I was hoping to expand to another isle and now I cant without being hooked to someone else's isle or pay LL $150.00 to have my isle moved, and I will NOT pay to move my isle when LL was the one who boxed me in.
I have made several complaints to LL without any success and I now see yet another isle has been added, soon all of isle owners near those isles will have no way of expanding if they wanted to.
LL has throughout the year slowly added isles around mine, it was fine until they left me no room at all to expand.
Certainly LL could group their isles together or something so those of us close to those isles can have the chance to expand if we choose.

I noticed the same when I had mine. for a start, they put me diagonally offset to the NW from the mainland then put another two squares above me, one two squares over to the West and another diagonally SW. If I had wanted another I wouldn't have had anywhere to put it. And my thoughts on paying to move it would be the same as yours.

*blink*

I thought private islands were essentially nebulously placed in a generic grid pattern?

There's no effort in "moving" them, I thought.

Or did I miss something in the last six months?

To play devil's advocate, did you have an expectation that they would continue to leave you expansion space indefinitely? Is this a more severe example of when someone has the land at the edge of the world only to wake up one day and find a new sim smack up against their property line? I'm curious if this was just something you didn't foresee happening or if it was somehow communicated to you that other isles wouldn't start to encrouch as the population expanded.

I'm 99% sure if you wanted to attach an island to yours, they would move it so that it wouldn't link your island to anyone else's.

Gabe that isnt what we paid for or was agreed to be paid for, LL can not put a sim next to yours without your permission. In Tinks case they are in the corners which are visible to her PRIVATE sim from her corners. Moving an island cost 150 US dollars.

These sims are by the same group spread out, I am not to far away, I find it unacceptable and will be making phone calls to LL if it touches any of my corners. NO other sims have to deal with this on the map it isnt right TInk is BOXED in on all 3 corners, she didnt pay or agree to that.

NO, but take a look at the map, its like this isle set is eating the isle area alive, and I like everyone else have a right to be able to expand, and I think LL sould atleast take that into consideration for everyone, not just me.
I'm not just looking at whats happened to me but I see those isles close to that set being in danger of the same thing thats happened to me.
For one I did start out on the edge of the world and seen it expand and loved it at the time, of course I wasnt paying the fees that I am now, and of course when I got the isle a year ago there were very few out here.

These sims are all same group names, why arent they connected in their own little continent? If Tink wants to expand which we both talked about not too long ago, she would have to move the island completely.

It seems likely if you expand, LL will absorb any necessary moving fees.

I would be very interested to know if this is not the case.

Oh I am sure they will, they can't allow one person to expand and not another because of where they place the sims. I am surprised you can see the other sims in the corners. If sims are placed like this, they should be isolated in world, even if not on the map.

Chaos ran into this problem when we were considering hooking up a 3rd sim. The word we had from the Lindens is that if we get another sim, they will move us at no charge. I also believe that since our LMs remain the same since they are relavant to our sim.

I can confirm the LM comment one sim recently changed names and I had a LM for it before the name and location change and it still refferenced.

I have moved twice--LM no longer work when you move.

I am pretty sure that they wouldn't charge you in that situation.

Alliez and I have owned Rue dAlliez for almost a year now. When we went to expand Rue dAlliez we were told that we had to add to the left because there were invisible private estates to our right.

As the demand for our services (private rental islands) have grown we have added more sims. We recently added 2 more and puposely placed them away from Tinks sim.

Our reason for cornering the sims is not to devour the map but to provide additional privacy to our renters because you can only enter each sim by teleport.

When u corner sims you are not supposed to be able to see into the next sim - It does happen every so often but dissapears after u move or a minute or so has passed.

When Alliez and I started to rent land we never forsaw purchasing 13 sims. SL is growing so quickly - it has doubled in membership in the last few months - If SL will not move you at no cost (which it is my understanding they will) - Alliez and I will cover your movement fees.

I wish you had spoken to us directly but we do understand how you feel.
IM either of us in world (once sl is back up) and we can resolve this matter.

Well Tony the issue isnt with you at all but where LL chose to place them. None of us according to LL FAQs on isles really have no input on where they decide to put them, unless we ask them to connect them to our main isle.
There really is no reason to get ahold of you guys because LL is the one doing the placing.
It was thier choice of placement which has brought about this whole post.

Its just the fact that I'm starting to feel like I'm living on the mainland again, and if thats what I wanted I would've bought a sim on it.

So please don't take it that I'm against you guys, its LL's choice of placement that has me feeling like I"m paying island fees on the mainland.

Wow that right there is a concern too, what if you wanted to join the sims?

I personally have delt with both you and Alliez, I can verify you both are great people and courteous :) I don't think it is a matter with you both personal for tink, her concerns are more leaned towards LL

This is still unusual and also opens for possible bugs. I know a while back there were estate tools bugs. and also something that shouldnt been seen to begin with, IMO draw distance is draw distance whether to be seen breifly or all the time, it creates client lag for her.

I say Kudo for your sucessful business. and it is an honorable gesture for you to offer to pay, but I dont think it is nessesary personally, as I said before this is more of an LL issue and concern for her. Also lack of communication from LL is a great concern for all of us when questions are forwarded to LL unanswered.

Honestly I dont think she even knew who owned the sims or focused on it, this was as I said a concern that really was ignored and could have been simply answered by LL and lack of response was the problem. The sims are getting close to mine too. This is why I am defending what Tink is posting because it is becoming a concern to me too.
