Good morning all. I have been given two conflicting answers to my problem. Allow me to describe the situation... When we started playing SL we bought some land grouped up with each other and a friend to group the land to allow more prims. We started making some friends and not understanding fully how group land worked when we setup the group, started inviting people to our group as members only. Now we have learned about how some things work (gotta love being a noob ) and we setup a second group for just land ownership. The problem is transferring the land over to the new group. Currently there are 1031 out of 1054 prims on the land. The ownership of all the land is divided as 3072 and 1536 sq m. Yanking the allocation out to transfer it to the new group would obviously make the land over the allowed prim usage. Therein lies my dillema. I dont want to spend all the time we did redecorating etc. I was told last night that there is a grace period in which the land is allowed over the prim count for a short period of time which would work great for this... Then I asked live help again this morning as I was about to do the transfer and they told me there is NO such grace period. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have thought about contacting my neighbor who has plenty of prims free to store all our items so that we could temporarily move all items to his land do the transfer and then move the items back but that could get messy and he hasn't been online yet. Is there any other way that this would be possible so that our prims are not effected? Thank you in advance for any help

There is a grace period for groups beind deficient in their land credits. Not sure of the exact amount, but it's long enough to do the transfer (at least serveral hours). 1. Remove the donated land tier from the old group and donate it to the new group. 2. Set the land for sale to you personally and for L$0 (first set your name, THEN set it for sale at L$0). 3. Set your group title to the new group. 4. Click the "Buy for Group" button. 5. Done! Careful!: if you choose to transfer ownership of all of the prims on the land to the group (using the "sell objects with the land" option), the objects will be owned by the group. Any "Next Owner" permissions will be applied to the objects meaning that if you don't give modify permissions to the objects/scripts/etc, you will forever not be able to modify the objects.

Thank you very much Hank! Just what I wanted to hear As for the sell objects with land... if I don't sell them with the land will the items end up being returned to me or do they just stay on the land? Edit: Or would opening my group menu, setting allocation to 0 for the old group, then setting it back up in the new group allow me to not mess with any of that? heh

You can leave the objects on your land, but if you have auto-return on they will be returned unless you set them all to the new group. Note that you don't have to deed the objects to your group, just set them to the group.

What Hank said but this too, be absolutely sure that autoreturn is off while you transition the land and reset the group tags on all the objects.
