Hey, Sirry if this is the wrong place to post this, but it says land so I am gonna jump in here and go for it Anyway, A friend of mine and I were discussing the possibility of getting an Island or a whole sim...either one at this point would be about the same for the answer I am looking for. What I am wondering, is, what are the upsides to having a private island? Downsides? Does it end up costing more than its worth? Does it all even out? I know that just GETTING an island isn't cheap...neither is keeping up with the tier, but if its group owned..we all pay what we pay now for tier...is that right? We just donate the land we have to the group? I have figured that me and a few friends have enough land to donate....just coming up with the cash to buy the island is hard. I wanted to ask before I shell out over 1k to get this. Thanks in advance, Piper D.

I've never heard of a group-owned private island. Group owned land on the mainland ,yes.
Is it even possible to have a group-owned private island?

Islands can not be group owned and you can not contribute tier. One person owns it and takes the financial resposibility of the monthly payment.

Islands can be group owned, but one personal is responible for making sure the monthly fee is paid for. only one person controls the estates tools also when group owned. one one person can reclaim the land.
Owning an island is expensive, I dont recomend buying one unless you can afford to pay the monthly or have a running business that helps pay for the island. good thing about island is you can texture the land. estate banning is great, option to set the sun all the time is great, taking the island off the public grid to work on it is private and peace is great. ability to send a notice to all the island during events is great. having 15000 prims is the best. I will never go back to bein a mainland owner only personally. the question really you should be concerned about the most is can you afford to pay for it monthly and if you have partners can you trust them to pay you monthy for their portion, if they bail out do you have a back up plan. hope any of this helps.
