I've searched and I'm not sure I understand. Forgive me if this is obvious or already asked.. I'd like step-by-step instructions though to prevent a potential problem.

Right now, we have a group of four, all contributing our 512 tier to a single group that owns now a single piece of 2048 land.

Should one member leave, how can we portion off the land to them for them to do with as they please, without causing the group to be in debt tier?

Basically... There are four of us donating 512 each tier to a single piece of land. How can we divvy it up so there is a single 512 piece of land owned by a single individual, and a piece of 1536 land, group owned by the three remaining members (without causing tier problems that exist long enough to cause the group to be in arrears)

Thanks.

In the Edit Land menu have the "select land" button selected and drag your mouse over 512m worth of land and click Subdivide. Sell that land to the person leaving the group.

if that person does not want to incur a raised tier fee, you need to also have them take their tier with them before they buy back their lot. The best way to do it would be to portion the land, have them uncontribute their tier, them buy their lot for $1. Might be a good idea to set it to sell just to them so that in the event their personal tier doesn't refresh right away, that someone doesn't come along and buy it. You will probably get a warning that the group doesn't have enough tier to support the land, but a Linden assured me once, in this same situation, that the land doesn't revert back to public immediately, so don't worry, but I wouldn't wait to complete the transaction any longer than necessary.

Samantha and Kaejo are both partly right.
  1. Subdivide the plot so that the person leaving the group can buy one plot. This is done by right-clicking on your land, clicking "Edit Land" and then using the mouse to select a part of your land that is 512m. if you can't get exactly 512m on the first try, carve out smaller chunks until you have a few pieces that add up to 512. Then join them together.
  2. Set the land to "For sale" to that member. Then set the price to zero (or a specific amount, if the user is going to "buy out" of the group).
  3. The user should buy the land from the group. DO NOT GO TO THE WEB SITE AND TIER UP. Remember, you have 24 hours.
  4. The user should then take their contribution out of the group.
  5. The user can then go to the web site, accept their land tier as it already is. There should be no problems, and nobody has to pay any extra tier for the month.

Remove the tier from the group before buying the plot back to avoid the extra step of having to confirm tier. The group has about a week to make up the difference, so a couple of minutes for the group tier not covered works just fine.
