Er, I read that to mean that while IGE is being reshuffled, they locked the account to prevent a disgruntled employee from coming in and causing a ruckus.

Well, Robin didn't say it was a fraud. Just that they had put the account on hold.

If it was a fraud, boy oh boy, I wouldn't want to be unwinding those trades.

Looks to me like they already had their issues, only takes 10 seconds for IGE to change a password, it doesn't require an account lockdown.

Looking at yesterdays events,
1) 12 million transfered to GOM
2) not on an account known as an IGE account
3) that large sum moved around all day to all different block sizes and price points
4) that money is gone off the market today

/me smells a fish.

It seems that the entire time, that 12M was never sold. There was always that block on the market, never changing. As soon as it came near that price, it was moved. I think we had more then just IGE dumping on the market. Anyone else notice anyone else leave the leader board at the same time?

Conspiracy Theory #1:

(Please note -- the following is the rambling of someone who doesn't know anything about anything)

Somebody hacked IGE Ambassador's account and transferred the L$ to their own account and placed on GOM late last night in large size chunks. Alternatively, a disgruntled employee/ex-employee of IGE who had access could accomplish the same thing.

IGE has realized what happened and contact LL shortly when LL comes in to work.

LL will contact GOM to freeze account(s). GOM will be down for a while today.

Large chunks removed from GOM, L$ returned to IGE.

Price flies to $3.50 or so.

Ok - done rambling -- off to smoke some more crack.

Well, i got scammed for 450 usd because i was stupid enough to sell my l$ on ebay to a french unverified paypal account, i suspect some of those got dumped on gom. Now that user does not exist anymore on SL, and ebay has closed his ebay account. And you all know how cooperative ebay&paypal is when it comes to virtual goods.

So in total i lost 100k ls and paypal is holding the 450usd. At same time ls drops like mad, what a wonderful day.

Can anyone give me a tip how to handle this ?

Can linden provide ebay info confirming that i sent the ingame cash ?

I agree with that. LL putting the account on hold is odd. Mind you hasn't Robin broken LL's own privacy rules in discussing the status of a member's account in public? Disciplinary or not, I would not expect an LL employee to openly discuss the status of somebody's SL account like that.

Uhhh ok. Best way to handle it would not to do it in the first place. But that's just me. It is waaaaay too easy to get swindled, just ask the folks who have been screwed over buying and selling island sims.

I watched the charts yesterday, nothing too screwy went on yesterday. It's easier last week that was interesting; someone traded about 5 blocks for 89 US which artificially inflate the daily trading average by 15 cents; which resulted in 1800 blocks being sold (with the average dropping down to an inflation of 7 cents, the inflated price holding for 2 days). It's possible there was day trading yesterday that resulted in the slow increase of the value.

Who cares if they did dump 12 million; the market is up.
