I think you can have a Linden do it @53 bucks an hour, but that might just be for islands

Hi Chardonnay

Dig a hole and put a flat prim over it. Then get a water texture and put it on top of the prim. For best effects, get a rotation script so the water moves.

My two 3 yo gd's hoot with laughter when i slop around my puddle.

If it's your island I'm pretty sure you can adjust the water height, along with everything else... If you live on an island in rented property your landlord can do it, but may not want to.

On the mainland, the water height is set for the sim by the Lindens and can't be changed so there is no way to do it.

Water height is set on a per sim basis, not per parcel, so unless there is no visible water anywhere on the sim the chances of getting a landlord to lower water height is prolly zero.

If other tenents have dug down to the water to create fish ponds, swiming pools, etc, then the chance is less than zero.

It's a seriously annoying 'feature'. I built a pretty low-lying island, with a river and lake, then attempted to bury a 30m3 object in a high area.
I struck water some 20m down! This caused consternation and a complete rethink.

Seeing the 'water' layer of the RAW file (layer 3, Blue) is available it would be really helpful to be able to edit it like layers 1 and 2.
Thinking about it, it would be really good, it could result in a reduction in prim usage (no more 'water' prims for above sea level lakes, waterfall headers and so on) and produce some really nice creative effects.

If you want a trick to 'hide' water flooding your basement, put a phantom invisiprim right exactly at water level, 0.05m thick, covering the water in the entrance/stairs. From above, you won't see the water level looking down, and same from below, though from below you will still get the 'underwater haze' effect.

*LOL* I need more coffee. I read this as how could you get water IN your basement. Build up not down unless you have estate rights on an island. :(

If you decide to turn it into a pool, the below is still interesting.

------------------------

Siggy Romulus makes prim water you can swim in for above water table builds. Nice stuff for pools, but I could see it in a basement too. There is some free to copy "splashable" water going around also, but I'd have to be logged in to remember the maker's name. Drop me an IM in world if you want me to look it up.

If you want to build it yourself the best trick I know is two .010 thick prims with one of the LL water textures and a simple animation script. Make them both phantom, put them on top of each other, one slightly higher than the other and turn one 90 degrees so that the animation is running in different directions. Gives you a decent water effect.

Oh, and don't link them to anything unless you want it all to go phantom. *this tip brought to you by someone who turned an entire sky build phantom*

You can see this effect in Otherland, in the Irene and Thargor sims (in the north of Thargor), where we have higher water in Irene that waterfalls into Thargor. The lakes/rivers are Linden water, just set to a higher value than the default 20m. The water then moves through Thargor and again goes over a waterfall further south, where it joins the sea.
