So, Me and Evil Fool have been doing alot of experimintation in the new preview. One thing we noticed that was huge is that one sim, The Bomb, requires no Land Tier. Thats great and amazing right? Now another thing I have noticed in this sim was an item owned by a linden's tester named 500$object. Now, this object had 50 prims. The next logical guess is that its refering back to the old tax structure. So.. We thought it over for a period of time and reasoned out that it was probably NOT going to be reimplemented into the main grid... So Y would they be testing taxs if of course they werent planing on implementing it? Teen Grid. We believe that the teen grid will be based on the tax structure and not on land tiers. The fact of it being on taxes would make more sence then it being on tier right? So they are probably going to charge them alot of $ to get a nice stipend to pay tax's.
Please Note.....
The above views and statements are not endorsed by Linden Labs or any of its employees. All views expressed above are of mine, Snapple Drago, and Evil Fools. We are not liable for anything you guys do with it blah blah blah....
Comments? Suggestions? Information that ruins this theory?

Yah, Evil is probably one of the best SL experimenters.

Oh. My. God. Now I'll just HAVE to get my ass on the teen grid. And that's a promise.

I dont believe LL will follow the tax route with objects. The failures they had on the main grid will continue to apply to the minor grid, that being, they are not effective, they limit good places and that was carefully tied to the 10,000 prim per sim pool - which had the problem of inspiring 'prim hogs'.
However, the way Tier is to work on the minor grid is anyone's guess, they may use old hardware to subsidise the cost of giving a discount to users of the teen grid.
From my own visitations, the teen grid is being setup as a large hidden estate with additional staff and monitoring, but being essentially the same, and only virtually seperated.

Having it as a large hidden estate does not make sense to me. LL has had the ability to handle multiple grids since forever. Even the orientation islands are on a completely separate map these days. They dont even have a hostname, just numerical IP adresses. If the teen grid was an estate they would have to throw additional code to separate the two sets of users in every way. If they put it on its own grid, there's no additional coding to do. Maybe that's what the Siva server is for - we're agni, hindu god of fire, they are Siva, aka Shiva, hindu god of destruction

Your theory is completely debunked by your use of aimspeak.

When I looked for their location on the map, it was just a bit nw of the mainland in the middle of nowhere about ~6500M sse from my island. Once they made it out, their beacon moved into ahern and ~8000M away. This leads me to believe that the orientation islands are on our grid, just hidden. /even more off topic What gives with the orientation area in Dore? Is it used, or is it just a Linden sandbox for additional orientation islands?

about the orientation islands i think they're on our grid too. when i first started i took a look at the map pretty early on the orientation island and i could see the whole rest of the world. i don't remember if the island was hidden or not but the rest of the world was visible.
i didn't know about double clicking the map to teleport back then but i wonder if i could have teleported out that way and skipped the whole orientation.

From: Zuzi Martinez about the orientation islands i think they're on our grid too. September was a long time ago. Nowadays, when you make a new account and are put through orientation, you cant do much on it, half of the UI is disabled, and zooming out on the map as far as it will go will still only show you the island.
