Just wondering as I'm still rather new in doing business as I selling clothing. It's been about a month and I'm seeing trends and wondering if this is just normal. Had a wonderful weekend selling stuff and once again everything went dead on Monday just like last week. Yet by Thursday night and the weekend, everything picked up well again. Is this normal? Are there other trends to follow like summer and holidays? Does it slow down in the summer? Just wondering. Thanks to any replies.

There's trends in any business really, SL or otherwise. Some weeks are HOT others are not. Also too tis possible more ppl log on over thursday to monday period, weekends over assorted time zones. Enjoy the good weeks and believe in your product during the slow weeks

mcgeeb, I have noticed that business often picks up just after posting a new product sometimes in the New Product" forums. The first couple of days after an update, things will be particularly slow probably because everyone is busy playing with new features, or STILL trying to log in and having trouble of some sort with the new roll out. During many U.S. holidays I notice an increase in traffic, like this weekend for example sales were more than usual. However, the morning after a holiday, I'll get nothing usually. I wonder if it's because most are hung over??? ROFL. LOL. However, using real-world marketing tactics can help boost sales during down times. You just have to be creative. Good luck in 2006!

I haven't been long in business either - opened shop in november - but I notice some similar trends. Sales are typically rather good on weekends, and pretty much dead during the week. Also, people do like to come shopping on RL holidays, or so it seems... And even from week to week, I see pretty wild fluctuations, though since the Xmas season is just out of the door it's difficult to judge how much was due to Xmas shopping craze, and how much is just "regular" fluctuation. What MadamG Zagato wrote about the "new products" forum is very valuable advice, it cost nothing but is quite effective - I always notice a spike in sales after posting there. Also give the classifieds a try, especially the "new products" section - imho the extra exposure is worth the 50L$, and judging from the customers I get from there, many new residents (who haven't discovered the forums yet) read the classifieds.
