As part of the expanded line of GT financial information services, we are going to start providing short weekly economic forecasts. I'll post a couple on the forum, but eventually these forecasts will be broadcast through the upcoming GT EconoHUD which will feature live streaming quotes, tools, and alerts.
Economics forecast for the week of July 24, 2006.
The Linden is weaker in trading this week, possibly spurred by the recent outages. Buy/Sell Ratios are showing no near term turnaround likely, and weaker trading is expected to continue at least through Friday.
Long term prospects remain good for the Linden as the impact of LL supply-side cuts start to take effect over the next few months.

Hahahahaha.... I'll believe it when I see it.. Until then, long term outlooks are bleak... The linden dollar is already retreating from it highs around L$297 after the short lived rally. Down 10/basis points in a week and falling.

I dig it, thanks for the info. I can't wait to get my ticker hud. Does GF plan on opening an SL stock market? Its completely idealistic in a world with no laws, but hey, it'd be cool.

And why hasn't anyone noticed LL can change the value to whatever the hell they want. When it hits $350 they bring it to $300, then it slowly rises to $350 again... there's my outlook.

I think it would be possible to sell certain types of options, like covered calls and other secured options. Without the leverage of margin the attractiveness of the investment is lessened but as you pointed out, without more enforcability, margin trading would be dangerous. Indeed. They've said they'll try not to affect the rate too much for now at least. It's a dangerous game if they did sell hard against the market, and their goal is to reduce volitility. Pushing too hard against where the market wants to go is going to likely cause higher long term volitility, especially since they only have said they will sell and not buy at this point. They could peg the rate completely to within a tight range if they both sold and bought, but they could absorb large losses if the linden weakens considerably and they were setting hard price limits.

Svar Beckersted Registered User LL LindeX trading How will the LL LindeX trades be identified? I thought I saw something about the average trader being able to see which limit sell offers were from LL versus everybody else. Torley Linden Watermelinden Perhaps you're referring to what you read in the Economic Town Hall with Lawrence Linden chat log, Svar? /3/93/121623/1.htmlIn any case, I'll check with Lawrence! Lawrence Linden Linden Lab Developer There will be a "L$ Sources" row on https://secondlife.com/currency/economy.php when Supply Linden starts trading. The limit sell orders aren't called out on the LindeX pages... but if there's enough interest we can find a way to provide more information. Cheers, Lawrence Lawrence Linden Linden Lab Developer Let me add that we haven't posted any limit sell orders yet... we're currently waiting on that web page update before we proceed. Cheers, Lawrence
