Avatar speech on non-public channels

llMakeOwnerSay(<channel>,<text>;)
llMakeOwnerShout(...)
llMakeOwnerWhisper(...)

Also a way for an avatar to say/whisper/shout things on non-public channels, perhaps something like:

/say:200 This is being broadcast on channel 200.

Why? It'd be great for making 'userdef' commands that aren't broadcast to all the local avs, making it easier to trigger your objects directly. Also, you could pre-parse text before speaking it (you say it on chan 9213, an attachment parses/edits your text then forces you to say it on the public channel) -- be great for making fake languages and dialectizers.

I'd like this for debugging purposes, if nothing else.

It is not too difficult to create a script that will translate what you say to another channel....

It won't be said by you, and you'll still say the original outloud.

NOW:
Coyote Murphy says, "English."
Some box says, "Glblslf."

THEORETICAL FUTURE:
Coyote Murphy says, "Glblslf."
Your gibberish translator whispers, "<English.>"

True, but have your objects respond to the key of your attachment opposed to yours directly. I suppose you still will have the whisper on the open channel, but it will prevent a whole bunch of 0 channelled shouting.

I suggested this a while ago.

...Just thought I'd tell you how smart you are :D

Already possible since version 0.6. Aren't Lindens fast? Still shows text in the proper color (white for avs, green for boxes), but that's a good thing.

Harald what are you talking about?
Alondria you got it backwards. I want an object that will make my av say things outloud instead of being the object saying things, so it will appear in white, and with my name on it.
I thought the original post's sugested name "llMakeOwnerSay" was pretty explicit... make the owner of the object say something.

Let me expand on what I think Coyote was saying, including channel numbers

NOW:
Coyote Murphy says, "0:English."
Some box says, "0:Glblslf."
Your Giberish Translator whispers"0:<English>"

THEORETICAL FUTURE:
Coyote Murphy says "257:English"
(some script hears this on 257, does magic then uses llMakeSay to...)
Coyote Murphy says, "0:Glblslf."
Your gibberish translator whispers, "0:<English.>"

Now, while I see the use of this, I am somewhat leery of having avatars talk on non-zero channels, it totally breaks the "physicallity" of SL, that is, you go somewhere, you can hear what the people around you are saying. We already have a method for private communications, IM.

And I am extremly leery of allowing scripts to make avatars say things.
