Ok, I know/bet most of these have been suggested already, but I'm in the mood to suggest them again, so here I go =)
1. In my New IM window scroll list thing, if someone is in Busy mode, make their name be in blue (just choosing blue because blue and busy both begin with the letter B).
[ please do the same thing in my inventory / calling cards ]
2. As above, if they're set away, make their name be in italics. This one isn't as big of a deal as the first one, since when you're in busy mode, you don't receive any IM's sent to you, and if said IM is being sent "long distance" then the sender just thinks they're being ignored when they don't get an answer.
3. Detachable IM windows. I want to be able to see bp's IM window AND bbc's IM window AND bel's IM window all at the same time. Sometimes. So I want the IM windows to be re-attachable as well.
4. Thank you, thank you, thank you for removing the "has left this session" nonsense whenever an IM window is closed, but -- could you please put in an "is no longer in world" when the person actually logs off? With half a dozen or more windows spread out all over my screen I end up missing the "is offline" notice a lot of the time (and of course don't get one at all if I don't actually have that person's calling card)
5. In *Group* IM's only -- give us a little sidebar which tells us the names of all participants, and for these only, give us back the "has left this session" message -- as well as a "has joined this session" one.
6. Give me a way to send the same message to ALL IM's I have open. In IRC, you can type "/ame blah blah blah" and that'll send "blah blah blah" to everyone you're chatting with. Makes it really convenient to say goodbye to everyone without having to either copy/paste or retype.
7. Give me a little button on the IM window that will bring up that person's profile.
8. Let me drop an inventory item onto an IM window to offer said item to them.
9. Give me a way to pay money to someone via an IM window (or their profile, if you give me the little button in #7 above).
and last, but certainly not least...
10. Give me a pony! <G>
#!

1. Yes. Also an automated reply would be nice and nicer if we could set it, so if I'm busy and someone sends me a message they get "BUSY: Working on DarkWood Village, be open to chat again about 4:00" or something 2 yeah with the same addition I had for one - away messages. please. 3 I like em all in one window, my screen is cluttered enough. But thats just personal opinion. 4 What do you mean? If you send an IM to a user not online you get a message that it will be stored and sent later. I think this should show up in the IM and not general chat. Otherwise ... I'm more interested in -not- hearing those is online and is offline messages then getting double ones. 5 Definatly! 6 Well if you put em all in a folder and open an IM with the folder.... 7 Definatly! 8 Yes! 9 Another nice feature 10 I know someone that has a unicorn, I'm sure someone has a pony somewhere.....

Take it easy... if you want advanced chatting go on IRC or something. I centainly think (and hope) that chatting-features are not a high priority. Let them deal with bugs and features that will improve building etc. first!

With #! and one more horseman, we could have a helluva party. As for the chat stuff, I think 6, 7, and 8 could be nicely combined. Have the list of participants, have the ability to drag-drop stuff from inventory on to the name, and have a right-click the brings up the menu you get when you right-click on an avatar. This would be sweet.

Aurelie, yes, if you set yourself into Busy mode, you will not receive -any- IM's or general chatter. bp and I tested this just a few nights ago. The messages are *not* stored and presented to you when you come out of busy mode. This is why I really would like to see some indication that so-and-so is current in Busy mode (either by having their name a different color in my inventory-calling cards and IM window list) or a message that comes back to me when I send them an IM or -something-. Mark, I want advanced -everything- in SL =) I'm way burned out on IRC, but that is my background (8 years of testing, supporting, training... even wrote a few little clients). Ama: From: someone 4 What do you mean? If you send an IM to a user not online you get a message that it will be stored and sent later. I think this should show up in the IM and not general chat. Otherwise ... I'm more interested in -not- hearing those is online and is offline messages then getting double ones. Yes, but that's after I've taken the time to type out the IM -- sometimes, not nearly aways, but sometimes when I'm really trying to get a point across and don't want to be misunderstood I'll take quite a bit of time formulating the message, typing, deleting, retyping --- if the "is offline" message were to appear in the IM window itself, it would save me some time (that I would have otherwise spent typing and editing the message to them). This one isn't that big of an issue to me -- just one of those "it'd be nice" things. and From: someone 6 Well if you put em all in a folder and open an IM with the folder.... PITA! That's more trouble than typing out my goodbye and copy/pasting it into all my open IM's. Sometimes I have to go *quickly* -- I'd rather send a quick message out to the people I'm currently chatting with than to just leave, knowwhatimean? Oh and I've decided I want a pegasus instead of a pony... <G>

I would like to not have IM chat show up in chat history. That is my biggest chat feature request. That and being able to turn off the is online is offline messages in chat history.
