Why do I have to carry 4000 items around that should be stored at my home or in rented storage perhaps, or even a vehicle boot for some. Perhaps this would reduce lag too

4000 isnt to bad! once u hit 20000 its a worry. u could sort your stuff and drop the items into prims...like create a cube ... call it "vehicles" then drop all your vehicles into it then pick it up
