Second Life Offline Messenger

I know this idea has been thought of a million times....and pardon me if it already exists.... I couldn't find it. How about it? A messenger you log into with your Second Life screen name and can talk to your friends when you are not in world. Of course I imagine the grid would have to be online to use it unless they gave it a server of its very own. Hey! We can even pay a weekly subscription to use this Second Life out of world messenger. (How about in Linden dollars?) I'd like it to look and feel a lot like Yahoo! Messenger. It would go along well with this social/networking/community experiment we have going here.
