We should be able to layer two different textures with skirts, as we can with other clothes. This would allow for two-part tops intended to be worn with skirts to be made. You can do this now, but each top/skirt set must be made manually.
Also, it would be handy if we had a slider to decrease the waist on skirts to be smaller than the avatar waist itself, to allow us to get rid of the gap between skirt and torso. Currently, the skirt waist is set to something like 105% of the avatar waist.
The reason skirts aren't lower on the hips than they are is that they rely on the waist to get the animation right, but these two workarounds would allow us to improve things quite a bit.

I support this product, and/or service.
I'd actually like to see the lower portion of the jacket be longer and actually go *over* the skirt rather than under it. This would allow for much more functionality in creating certain types of garments.
I'd also like to see a separate "looseness" slider for the jacket -- as it is right now, the looseness of the jacket is determined by the looseness of the shirt -- but let's say I want a tight fitting skirt but a loose, "cape" style jacket -- can't have it unless the shirt is really loose. The only way around it I've found is to create a shirt with an alpha texture, make it loose and wear the tight top as an undershirt.
Thanks!
Zana

Seriously, who tucks their jacket into their skirt?

*embarrassedly lowers raised hand*
But really, this would go a long way towards getting a better full kilt outfit as well.

Yes! All the suggestions here would go a long way in really improving SL skirts!

The skirt and jacket issue would help imensely in my attempt to make japanese garments, as a jacket is worn with the hakama (skirt). So, uh, me too!

Skirt height

Skirts currently ride too high on the waist. Skirts are not supposed to be be higher than a persons navel. Of course a girl could pull it up if she chose (for some odd reason that I cant imagine).
Adjustable height on the waist would be nice, or just fixing them to be just below tjhe navel would work too.

Ok, I didn't see it mentioned, so what the hell, I will.
Why do the, um, backsides look so enormous with the skirt mesh? This is something that I think should be addressed as well. Granted, there is nothing wrong with, for lack of a better term, a large booty, but the skirts just look odd and out of proportion.

Thanks for all the feedback on the skirt.
A slider to control the closeness of the skirt top to the waist is certainly doable, and was, in fact, mocked up here at LL. The problem is once the mesh of the skirt penetrates the mesh of the avatar, the nice, even line at the top of the skirt is broken as various parts of the avatar poke through at different locations. That's also why the skirt hovers a bit away from the body as opposed to right against it. Now, combined with a slider to control the fabric length at the top of the skirt... that might give better results but would require the skirt parameters to be tweaked to fit for every avatar. I'll look into trying something like that.
Currently, the jacket is just another texture layer on the body, so it really couldn't overlap the skirt, which is a seperate mesh. The skirt is kind of an experiment in adding a mesh over the existing body mesh (trickier than it sounds, since the body can be morphed into so many different proportions.) If it's considered a sucess, we could conceivably do the same thing with a new Jacket mesh which could overhang the skirt.
To answer Cristaino's question regarding skirts making the booty look even more bootylicious... basically, the skirt has no real knowlege of the body undernieth, so it is designed with some clearance to avoid unsightly mesh interpenetration. If you feel your butt just looks too big while wearing a skirt, try adjusting several sliders: Skirt poofyiness, butt size, and saddlebags can all be minimized. The skirt IS aware of these morphs and compensates accordingly, resulting in a slimming effect while wearing a skirt. If you don't want to permanently change your av's body shape just to look good in a skirt, you should save an alternate reduced booty avatar shape along with the skirt you want to wear as an outfit in your inventory.

Cristiano, I have three body shapes for pants, loose skirts and tight skirts. They end up looking pretty normal, though it can be a little inconvenient to switch between them.

Just shake what your momma gave you (or sliders gave you ) and be happy I do have a 'dress' shape, however for the skirts made by Nephilaine (Kissling shop), Chip Midnight (Aqua), the only non-prim skirts i wear, I don't need a 'skirt/dress' shape. While I don't want to rain on the what-momma-gave-you shaking parade, going from a generous posterior to a shelf you can keep your drink on when you wear a skirt seems a little excessive.
