I don't know why anyone thought it would be useful or cool to force us to fly when we edit something, but it's completely unnecessary and annoying.

Hah no kidding, very annoying. And stop resetting the camera when closing edit windows. I like my camera where I position it, not where you re-position it.

Agreed on all points.

In the same vein, the auto fly on jump and auto land when colliding with the ground/side of a mountain are both unwelcome new "features".

Doesn't happen to me either. I don't see any reason for this to be happening, however I will note that holding down the 'e' key turns fly on so you might be doing that... for some strange reason... whenever you go to edit somthing.

No, Dave, that's a seperate thing that they should also put back exactly the way it was.

I've had this happen on occassion too. And really, all the auto-movement of the camera during building is just an annoyance. If I want the camera to move somewhere I'll do it myself.

I like the auto-fly on jump, because it simplifies my normal takeoff -- in 1.1, I usually started flying by jumping, then switching to "fly" mode. I don't like the "land on collision" though, because it tends to activate at the wrong times.
And please stop moving the camera around whenever I open or close the edit window, or change tabs in the appearance window!

Oh god, camera movements switching back and forth from edit mode are so annoying. I'm constantly switching back and forth so my camera's flying all over the place.
We're not talking about the auto-fly on jump, though, I think we're talking about building and then all of the sudden you're flying without hitting your F key (I'm not really sure what causes this.) I think that was really happening in 1.1 some too... (not sure, I'm tired.) I actually like the auto-fly on jump, not sure about the auto land yet.

Maybe we're hitting Home? That makes you fly since 1.1 too, I think, and is something else I'd like to be able to change. An easy way to reassign keys would be handy -- the last time I played with keys.ini (or whatever the key binding ini is called), my viewer didn't like it much.

Doesn't happen to me at all...which i know doesn't mean it's not happening to you, but apparently it's not a "feature".

I like my camera where I position it, not where you re-position it. You are so right on that. This has to be the most annoying thing about SL (and I even put it above my 2-3 daily system lockups). I'd gladly pay LL USD$50 for the 1 or 2 hours it takes for a developer to implement this as an option to TURN OFF.

From: someone Originally posted by Bosozoku Kato And stop resetting the camera when closing edit windows. I like my camera where I position it, not where you re-position it. So right. And not just when closing the Edit window, but when opening it too; several times i've tried editing an object in a room with a low ceiling ("low" being 3 meters) and found my POV shifted upward so that I'm looking at the object i'm editing from the other side of the ceiling. Really, how hard is it to have the camera do *nothing* when we start and finish editing an object (or editing land, or editing our appearance)?

From: someone Originally posted by Catherine Omega Maybe we're hitting Home? That makes you fly since 1.1 too, I think, ... Pretty certain it's not that. It may have to do with building style, how close you are standing to the objects you're editing, maybe how big they are or if you're standing on the object....

I'm pretty sure that right-clicking on something and selecting Edit with my mouse is not the same as pressing Home.
