Hello, Sairalinde here...

I just began my free trial a few days ago and I have attended a few events and I just had a few suggestions.

For events, is it at all possible that when someone is announcing things we could actually hear what they are saying instead of reading it off of the screen?

For instance I attended a fashion show. I was thinking it would have been nice to hear the announcer say which contestant is presenting instead of having to read the scrolling text. I know I could read it off of my history in case I miss something, but I just feel like it would be more real if there was a feature like this I could turn on and hear the announcer speaking to the audience instead.

Also, I attended Jeopardy and thought the same thing. Some people are such speed readers it's hard to get through the answer before people start typing the question. Would it be possible to make this event more like the real Jeopardy where nobody can give the question until the answer has been read and the people playing could actually hear the answer being read and could not respond until the announcer has finshed?

I don't know if this is even possible, but like I said just something I noticed and thought might be interesting to make the events a little more life-like.

Thanks for reading!!

Well, if the person running the event wanted to record each bit of text into it's own seperate less-than-ten-second sound file, upload each individually (paying the requisite L$10 for every file), and play them at the appropriate time, then yes.

However, realize that EVERY SOUND in SL has to be downloaded before you can hear it. Everything from the default clicks on buttons, the sound of people typing, or the sound that plays when you get an IM, all the way up to sound files people have and can play, ALL of those have to be downloaded. So instead of people speed reading and typing in the answer, the person with the fastest connection will hear the sound first, and answer it, before others have even finished downloading.

So... Short answer... No. At least not for a long time.
