Hello All!

Hopefully I didn't miss anything already posted; I *did* check :) I'm sure we all hate the adboards on the tiny little plots all over SL, however, what really gets on my last nerve is spending a couple of months trying to talk my husband into purchasing land, *finally* winning the debate &, not a week after we do, "boom" parcel borders go up on nearby land. Incidentally, they didn't go up to keep us out (hehehe), in one case the owner was deeding her land to group. Why she needed to put up a parcel boundary is beyond my comprehension...

Anyway, we all know how these things simply ruin a perfect view - we should know, we spent quite awhile discussing & finally found a gorgeous mountaintop. I fully believe in the things from the standpoint of keeping the roaming explorer out of your hair so you can do whatever you are doing in peace but, please, do they have to affect neighboring parcels??

So, I offer an idea.

Get rid of the graphical part of the boundary tape; I mean, even a noob understands that their avatar isn't going to cross a boundary if they keep bumping into it. Rather, leave the setup in place, changing the boundary to a transparent &, instead, when someone pushes the boundary, have a colored box pop-up to explain whatever type of boundary it is - maybe make the pop-up a bit larger if you are concerned about getting the point across. We already have a pop-up in place that explains what the avatar is running into, the only difference would be getting rid of the red or green tape graphic itself & making the pop-up a particular color or two. Personally, I'd go with red background for no entry, green for pay, etc. All we're talking about here are a few changes to color options in the pop-ups & no one is left with having a beautiful view ruined for whatever reason.

Just an idea but one that, I believe, would make a large number of landowners extremely happy. Thanks for your time...

Lyselle

P.S. Speaking of pop-ups, I must give kudos to the recent changes to the ones requesting debt allowances - they really catch your attention. This is part of what gave me the idea of extending the idea to the boundary options...

...and some people like the "red tape" so they can avoid the parcel *BEFORE* they run into it.

This is why I gave up on mainland and went to private.

I think it should be an option on the client side, like a checkbox for the banline.
Maybe i can have a 'forceshield' barrier instead of simple red line? XD with shielding effect when someone bump into it XD
