Lots of money is spent on buying all sorts of countermeasures against grief attacks. So just because there are griefers, the normal residents have to pay for it. Moreover, in a situation of assault it is very hard for the victim(s) to figure out who is the attacker, so it is then impossible to file a complete report to LL. Residents have to rely on expensive gadgets to protect themselves.

I personally find this unfair.

My suggestion to LL is to integrate in the SL Viewer some grief analyzer, i.e. the kind of attack(s), the avatar causing the attacks, automatic grief reporting (the regular reporting tool does not allow lengthy chat text or notecards or multiple screenshots), automatic attack suppression, you know, stuff like that.

Anyway, thanks for reading.

Best regards,

Spending monies? (o.o)

The only actual grief countermeasures I know of are completely free. (^_^)

That is, a thick skin, something to sit on, and the AR dialogue box. And then, you don't need any real special tools to ID anything. You don't need lengthy chat text or note cards... Just cut and paste a single line, including the time stamp, so that the griefing can be more easily found in server side chat log. (^_^)

A ton of laggy particles = particle spam.

A ton of laggy prims = prim littler.

Harassment = harassment.

If all else fails, AR a Linden and put in "I'm being spammed to death, my client is practically frozen." And, you'll probably get some attention within a minute or so. (^_^)y

How would the viewer discern what is an attack. What is "grief" *what a stupid term, that's been totally overused* is just an annoyance or even a cause for a chuckle to others. The hysteria that the word strikes in some people is unbelievable. If someone annoys you, mute them , ban them from your land, eject them, tp away or point and laugh. If they persist, report them via the AR System. The viewer is comlicated enough without adding unnecssary things to it. Do we really need a "Ohhh someone was mean to me" button?

so then if you're goofing off attacking friends, or playing in a combat zone or something, you'll automatically be ARed? Bad idea!

I think what I want more is ability to check who is the owner of the flooding particle spam and who is the owner of the object that flood those chats...

Mystitool can find the owner of a chat spammer. But, again, it's not needed... Just AR a Linden and describe the situation. (=_=)

I repeat:

The only reason YOU would need to know such a thing is if you were planning retaliatory measures without getting a Linden involved. The end result will most likely be a counter-AR by the griefer in return. If that's the case: Enjoy your Tban when it happens. (^_^)y

Nah, it is needed when /I/ as a sim owner, want to ban someone based on that, and it's hard to do unless I know who did it. LL can't help you find the owner of the chat and particle too if they are gone before a linden cought it, since they don't keep log of what happening in a sim. And every sim owners know you can't wait for linden to help you ban someone. You'd want to kick them out as fast as possible.
