I am selling something that I would like my customers to be able to texture to their own specifications. However, I don't want them to be able to unlink it and create derivitive works. Presently I have to texture the object for them. I'm sure others have run into this before.

What I'd like to see is SPECIFIC modify permissions by type:
  1. Resize
  2. Add Content
  3. Change Color and Texture

By default, no-modify permissions would turn these off, and modify permissions would turn them on. Assets would have a flag allowing the seller to determine whether it was OK to remove them or not. (This would be different from Modify, so that scripts would be deletable but not readable.)

I endorse this idea/feature.

I'd like to see the permissions system expand to provide more options. Heck, I'm ALWAYS for more options. :)

For you current texturing problem, Huns, you can script the object so a voice command with a texture key will cause the object to use the texture. A command like:

retexture 3 KEY00-0000-00000-00KEY

Would set the texture on part number 3 to that key. Then they just need to copy the key from a texture in their inventory and paste it into the spoken command. You can have all the parts of the object you want to let them texture numbered, and a notecard or annotated snapshot with the list of numbered parts.

Should be great for customizing vehicles beyond solid colors. :)
