I love the majority of secondlife but it lags so bad, the other day i was thinking to my self what if secdondlife let residents "host" there land. ie counterstrike anyone can host a server they just need another computer. lag would be reduced to the people that live around the server and the computer would be less stressed because a person owns it instead of a company that does as the please with there servers. ive been told this feature is been around but ive never seen anything about it

opensim (not openspace or void sims) allow you to run a standalone island the linden viewer can connect too. But the draw back is it currently will not connect to what Lindens Labs grid (secondlife)
