A thought just occurred to me that it might be desirable to some people to have the ability to make identity verification a condition for membership in groups.
This is just a random spur of the moment thought in the context of wishing that the group chat system here worked better for encouraging chat without annoying folks that don't want to see the slightest trace of the chat at times. Open join groups are so prone to attackers and troublemakers, and just too many people, for that matter, but maybe some way to use whatever verification info LL is making available anyway in the group membership system would help.
I guess this is more of a request to kick around this idea than an actual suggestion suggestion.

Good idea. I'd also like to see more general access controls for groups, eg the ability to ban someone from a free-to-join group. Otherwise, ejecting a user is essentially pointless... they just join right back up.

Yes, this would be a great boon for groups that are meant to be used as chatrooms. LL thinks everything needs to be tied to virtual land, so groups are made for owning land in common. Group chatting is supposed to consist of "Hey gang, let's meet on our huge plot of group owned land!" Then silence. I'd really like to see some chat systems that aren't land group based, but rather ad hoc groups, topically oriented channels, stuff like that.

My suggestion is only to let whatever already existing identity, age, residence, etc. info is already being used for parcel access and other uses be used for group membership, not to expand the types of information collected. I don't believe LL is actually making eye color information available.

This is a brilliant idea. I'm not sure why this wasn't implemented from the start. For open Enrollment groups, there should be a check menu allowing you to prevent no payment on file residents from being able to join. Suezanne You should create a Jira for this.
